virtio is enabled by default in libguestfs?
Hi all, Could I ask if and from which version that virtio is enabled by default in libguestfs? It seems that it is enabled by default in fedora-12, on which the latest version of libguestfs is 1.0.85. But for fedora-11(the latest version of libguestfs is 1.0.72), I could enable virtio only when I set it explicitly via config command. Thus it is not enabled by default on fedora-11. So I'd like

Libguestfs tools to modify network configuration of windows guest image?
Hi all, Could I ask if libguestfs provide some kind of tools via which we could modify network configuration of Windows guest image? It really makes sense if such tools exist, so that we could deploy several Windows guests from the same template image in a batch way automatically. Or do you have any hints to achieve this? Thanks. libguestfs-1.0.85-1.el5.5 - seems no KVM acceleration support included

There seems to be a problem with EPEL repo libguestfs-1.0.85-1.el5.5 rpm (x86_64) - for example it is very slow with VM filesystem copy as it does not make use of KVM acceleration (running plain qemu). > Running

vmdk support by libguestfs in RHEL and upstream
Hi all, As we are doing plan for testing libguestfs, I have a question about vmdk support for libguestfs. In Fedora 12, we can successfully manage a vmdk image via guestfish(add -> run -> mkfs -> mount -> ...). But in RHEL6, for qemu-kvm can not boot with a vmdk image, libguestfs can not manage vmdk either. So is it true that vmdk is only supported by upstream libguestfs but not

Unable to build appliance
Hello-- I've been trying to build libguestfs 1.2.14 with the appliance enabled on an older type of system at my company. Getting all the required dependencies installed has been an arduous process, but I've finally hit an obstacle I don't know how to get around. The final output of "make": + febootstrap-run initramfs -- /sbin/depmod -a ABOUT-NLS BUGS COPYING COPYING.LIB

Rethinking appliance building
I spent the last couple of days rethinking how we go about building the appliance, and the difficulties we have porting that to other Linux distros. I've come up with a much better way that works better and faster on (so far) Fedora and Debian (probably on Ubuntu too, not tried it), and should be much simpler to port to other distros. The current way is to do: +------------------+

Is zerofree or resize2fs applicable to ext4?
Hi all, Can I ask if zerofree or resize2fs could also be applicable to ext4? Guestfish help of these two commands indicates that they are applicable to ext2/3. But ext4 is not covered in the help. However, I have tested these two commands in my Fedora 12 laptop, and it seems that both commands work well with ext4. So I don't quite understand why the help of these two commands only mention

virt-install hell: how to *force* a local CD-ROM install?
I have a CentOS 5.6 system with a AMD Sempron(tm) Processor LE-1300 (which does not provide hardware virtualization support, so I can't use the --cdrom option) and I am *trying* to install FC15 as a guest O/S using a local FC15 DVD-ROM image. Everything work until the installer *insists* on firing up the network to get the repo data, etc. I have a *dial-up* Internet connection and this is a

Migrating from CourierMail to Dovecot
My current mail server is a Fedora12 system running postfix/mysql/couriermail/squirrelmail mix. My new server is a Centos6 running postfix/mysql/postfixadmin/dovecot/roundcube mix. I have 4 virtual domains and about 20 users; not a big setup by any measure. Both servers have the same host name, but are currently on separate subnets. My current plan is to stop services on the old server,

Building PXE Bootable images using the libguestfs toolchain
As part of the oVirt Node[1] project, I'm going to P.O.C. a version of the node using febootstrap 2.x instead of livecd-creator. The main reasons in doing this is for allowing a r/w root filesystem without some hacky overlayfs and just to see if it can be done. On IRC, rwmjones mentioned a few issues he ran into with febootstrap 2.x where some rpms had %post scripts which aren't really

libguestfs 1.12
Hi! Last night, I uploaded version 1.12.3-2 of the libguestfs package to Debian/unstable. I consider most of the initial work done. Apart from fixing bugs that users will reportt, a few issues remain: - Building bindings for multiple Python versions. I have just done this for hivex, it is probably going to be an issue being able build with $(builddir) != $(srcdir). - Improving febootstrap

[PATCH] Fix error launching libguestfs when euid != uid
When writing to a RHEV target, virt-v2v launches the libguestfs appliance with euid:egid = 36:36, which is required to write to an NFS target using root_squash. Since the update to use an febootstrap cached appliance, this causes an error on startup as the cached files are owned by root, but the cache directory is owned by 36:36. The reason for this is that execve() resets euid and egid to uid and

libguestfs-1.6 on RHEL5.5 Server
I need to install libguestfs 1.6 on Red Hat 5.5 Server. I have tried to download libguestfs-1.6.0-1.fc13.1.x86_64.rpm and install it, but there is plenty of unresolved dependencies, which I am not able to satisfy with the repositories I am connected to. The same issue blocks me when I try to compile the source code. So I tried to add fedora repository into the system: download
