How many fs types do we need to test
Hi Richard, How many fs types does libguestfs support now? And how many do you suggest we test? We are now covered ext2/3/4/fat32/ntfs. Regards, Pengzhen Cao

Problems since 3.12.7: invisible files, strange rebalance size, setxattr failed during rebalance and broken unix rights
Hi, after 2 years running GlusterFS without bigger problems we're facing some strange errors lately. After updating to 3.12.7 some user reported at least 4 broken directories with some invisible files. The files are at the bricks and don't start with a dot, but aren't visible in "ls". Clients still can interact with them by using the explicit path. More information:

RFC: copy-attributes command
Hi, attached there is a prototype of patch for adding a new copy-attributes command. Such command would allow copy the attributes of a "file" to another, so for example in guestfish: copy-attributes foo bar permissions:true xattributes:false would only copy the permissions of foo to bar, not copying its extended attributes too. Just few notes: - my first daemon command, so

[PATCH libguestfs v2 0/3] daemon: Fix various commands which break on NTFS-3g compressed files.
v1 here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2020-March/msg00099.html This one fixes most of the points picked up in review, and does not strdup the strings which should keep down memory usage if that is a concern. Rich.

[PATCH libguestfs 0/3] daemon: Fix various commands which break on NTFS-3g compressed files.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1811539 Commands including virt-diff which read extended attributes will sometimes fail on NTFS filesystems that are using system compressed. The reason is complex, see comment 5 of the bug linked above. This patch filters out the troublesome xattr. For justification, see the comment I added in patch 3. Patch 1 & 2 are refactoring. What is it with trusted.io-stats-dump?
Hi, I am trying to understand how the extended attribute trusted.io-stats-dump works. setfattr -n trusted.io-stats-dump -v /tmp/gluster_perf_stats/io-stats-pre.txt /mnt/gluster/gv0_glusterfs I can see that the io-stats-pre.txt is created. But how and what happened in the background? And why I can't I see the attribute with getfattr again? getfattr -dm- /mnt/gluster/gv0_glusterfs # file:

Samba 4 slow write
Hi Jones, many thanks for your reply. Yepp, I'm using ACL's (Posix ACL's) on filesystem to regulate the access of users for files and directories. Do you mean that this is the "normal" way? These geteuid and getegid system calls are so slow? On the previous system (Debian Wheezy, Samba 3) I've also used ACL's, but there were much faster than this... What should

hosting library (ie. PVCS) on Samba
Hello. I believe that I've done my due diligence in researching what info. is currently available on this issue. I have been jacking with this for days, & believe that I have tried all possible solutions. I am basically trying to move a [Merant] PVCS installation from an OS/2 file server to a SuSE/Samba file server. This installation consists of 'standard' source archives,

Operation Not Supported error for GETXATTR when VFS plugin "nfs4acl_xattr" is used
Hi Ralph I do not think using xattr_tdb is the right thing to do for my purpose. We do not wish to store/retrieve extended attributes to/from TDB file. *<Ralph>* *Iirc parsing NFSv4 ACLs would require extensions to the module to support the string identifiers and mapping to ids.* *</Ralph>* Can you please elaborate more on which extensions you referred to? What all basic things do
