[PATCH] Change to using ext2-based, cached supermin appliance.
This patch changes libguestfs to use the ext2-based appliance, cached if possible. I've tested this with the alpha version of febootstrap from here: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=191338 and it at least passes the tests. There are some hacky bits right now: (1) We add the root -drive option last on the command line, then (in the initrd) reverse-search through the

Change to unstable mkfs-btrfs API
I'm going to change the mkfs-btrfs API so its single and only parameter is a list of devices (instead of a single device). btrfs filesystems can span multiple devices, so this is necessary to create such filesystems, eg: mkfs-btrfs ["/dev/vda1", "/dev/vdb1"] mount "/dev/vda1", "/" would create a filesystem across two devices and mount it.

[PATCH 0/2] Improve the performance of virt-df
Currently virt-df launches the appliance once for each guest. With these two patches the number of times the appliance launches is reduced to once every 26 block devices. In theory we could do better by adding support for disk hot-add (supported by qemu but not via libguestfs at the moment). However this patch is still an improvement on the current situation. [PATCH 0/2] Deprecate zfile
OK let's restart this whole architecture thing. Firstly two patches which pass the '-z' parameter to 'file' so it looks inside compressed files. (Thanks to Matt for finding this not-so-obscure option). This means the 'zfile' command is now obsolete. [PATCH 0/2] Support for LUKS-encrypted Linux guests
These two patches add minimal support for LUKS-encrypted Linux guests (ie. most common whole-disk encryption schemes). Only opening LVM-on-LUKS is supported by this, not, for example, changing keys or creating new encrypted devices. It's also a little clunky to use from guestfish, but we can add more commands to fix that once we have a better handle on the problem. Rich. -- Richard Jones,

[PATCH 0/3] Enhancements to virt-ls
virt-ls has felt a little unloved for a long time. With this patch series, it turns into quite a useful tool for doing forensics and monitoring of VMs, and looking for changes to files. I have added the 'virt-ls -lR' output mode (the combination of -l and -R was previously unused). In this mode you get a recursive list of files and directories, with extra stat information and optionally

Whenjobs automating libguestfs development version test & build
Just a note that 'whenjobs'[1] is now automating libguestfs test and build, along the development branch. Simply tagging a new release in git will trigger a cycle of packaging, test, build, updating the website, and performing a new build in Fedora Rawhide. At the moment I'm only doing the tests on Fedora, but I will extend it later so it tests both individual commits and released

[PATCH 0/4 VERSION 4] FUSE bindings.
Although support for write(2) syscall is not yet implemented, we might consider cautiously merging this one. In read-only mode it seems to work fine and is stable under load. [PATCH 0/2 febootstrap] Allow zero-size conflicting config files to be combined
It's a recurring bug in Fedora that two packages will both contain a config file with the same name (for example this currently is occurring in glibc & glibc-common in Fedora 13 with the file /etc/gai.conf). RPM appears to allow this, at least if both files are empty. If both files are empty then there appears to be no particular problem with combining the two file records in febootstrap

[PATCH] daemon/Win32: Use gnulib modules for first porting to Win32.
Quite a victory for Gnulib here. I was able to port a large part of the daemon just by adding some modules and fixing a few headers. The remaining issues which are *not* fixed are: * No chroot on Windows. * No sync(2) call. * No posix_fallocate call. * No futimes call. * No pread call. * No custom printf format specifiers. * Quite a few problems in guestfsd.c, eg. code to run external
