total warning-removal for daemon/
The warnings in daemon were aggravating and risky for development (too easy to miss new ones) so I spent some time last week and today working on removing them. The first patch gets us down to almost no warnings with the original -Wall setting. That was by far the hardest part. Once I'd done that, I enabled nearly all of gcc's warnings via gnulib's warnings and manywarnings modules

[PATCH 00/13] Fix errors found using Coverity static analyzer.
I ran the Coverity static analyzer[1] on libguestfs, and fixed many errors as a result. Coverity found some errors in gnulib, but it doesn't seem to be worth following those up since the version of gnulib we are using is so old. There are a couple more errors (possibly 1 false-positive) which I'm going to send in a separate email. BTW all the errors found by Coverity were in the daemon

[PATCH 00/14] Run the daemon under valgrind and fix resultant errors.
This patch series lets you run the daemon under valgrind. Many errors were found and fixed. With the complete series applied, valgrind doesn't show any errors.

[PATCH 00/10] dib/API: improvements and fixes
Hi, this patch series does changes mostly in virt-dib, few bug fixes and a couple of new features (mostly implemented upstream already). In addition, one new API is added, and a new optional argument for an existing API is added (the latter is not needed, but could be useful anyway). Thanks, Pino Toscano (10): dib: fix listing envvars in fake-sudo dib: source dib "die" script in

missing chdir before chroot in guestfsd
daemon.c does just a chroot, without chdir. The result is that pwd does not work correctly (it causes fs/dcache.c:prepend_unreachable() to add the unreachable string). A workaround is to add "cd /" before each sh command. ><fs> mount /dev/sda2 / ><fs> sh "cd / ; chroot / ; /bin/pwd" / ><fs> sh "/bin/pwd" (unreachable)/ ><fs> sh

[cfe-dev] Modernizing LLVM Coding Style Guide and enforcing Clang-tidy
I'm a bit confused by this whole discussion. clang-format is neither mandated (by documentation) nor enforced (by any infrastructure/automation) for use in the LLVM project that I know of. It's convenient, and in review people may reasonably ask authors to consider running it, etc - but we have no system that requires or checks for that. Might be nice, might not be. It sounds like even

Modernizing LLVM Coding Style Guide and enforcing Clang-tidy
Hi everyone, I would like to start a discussion about enforcing use of clang-tidy (or better clang-tidy-diff) on patches before sending it to review. I like how clang-format simplified sending patches and reviews, e.g. "Use clang-format" instead of giving long list of lines that should be formatted by reviewer. I believe that clang-tidy can be also be very helpful here. Note that by

[PATCH] btrfs: Fix btrfs_subvolume_list on F18
The output of btrfs subvolume list has changed in F18 to include generation, which breaks the parsing in btrfs_subvolume_list. This change replaces sscanf with a more robust regular expression. The new regular expression should also handle the addition of future unexpected columns. Fixes RHBZ#903620 --- daemon/Makefile.am | 6 +++-- daemon/btrfs.c | 67

clang-tidy standalone
Hello, sorry for posting this here but I'm kind of stuck. I'm trying to introduce LLVM tooling step by step at the company I'm working for. So far I'm using clang-format for automated formatting. Since I'm also working on the coding guideline I wanted to use clang-tidy for enforcing the naming convention. The problem is that we're using a plain old MAKE project, so I

tidy.source() gets confused when # is not a comment but a part of a literal string?
I needed to clean someone else code and run it through tidy.source. It encountered a number of hangups which after some experimentation lead me to suspect that the culprit is # symbol when it is a part of literal string. For example if i copy the following to the clipboard confuse.tidy <-    function() {   txt <- 'abra # cadabra' } and run with default arguments >tidy.source()
