[PATCH 0/3] protocol: Abstract out socket operations.
I've been taking a long hard look at the protocol layer. It has
evolved over a long time without any particular direction, and the
result is, to say the least, not very organized.
These patches take a first step at cleaning up the mess by abstracting
out socket operations from the rest of the code. The purpose of this
is to allow us to slot in a different connection layer under the

[PATCH v2] Add progress bars
This is an updated and extended version of the original patch:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2010-August/msg00163.html
This adds OCaml and Perl bindings (both tested), support for
progress bars in virt-resize, and adds progress notifications
to a number of the simpler commands.
Still to do is to add progress messages to more commands. There
are still a few commands which would be

[PATCH 0/4] Small refactorings of the protocol layer.
As the start of work to add remote support, I'm taking a close look at
the protocol layer in the library. These are some small cleanups.

Issue with downloading files whose path contains multi-byte utf-8 characters
Hey,
When downloading a file whose path contains multi-byte utf-8, libguestfs
sometimes crashes.
This reproduces when using python, and not when using guestfish.
Code to reproduce:
for i in range(2000):
g.download ('/xxx?', '/tmp/1')
#0 raise (sig=<optimized out>) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/raise.c:50

Re: guestfs_launch gets stuck
Thanks Rich.
I have used libguestfs for several month. It worked perfectly before, the
issue appears recently. I am trying guestfs_set_backend (g, "direct").
Thanks,
Allen

Can confirm with {python3-,}libguestfs-1.51.1-1.fc39.x86_64
The stack trace is roughly the same as yours.

[LLVMdev] Minor AsmPrinter bug fix
The Microsoft CRT's implementation of isprint() has an internal assert
that the unsigned value passed in is in [0,256) but unprintable chars
passed in are sign extended to values that falsely trigger this assert.

Metaflac hex dump UTF-8 and locale fix
Small change to metaflac hexdump function. Changed so utf-8 decoding is
only used for filename printing and changed hex output printing to not
rely only on isprint. That function seems to return true for tabulator
control character under Windows when application isn't using C-locale.
At least it did so for all locales I tried (Finnish, German, English US).

enabling more syntax-checks
The first c-set cleans up the list of excluded syntax-checks.
The second enables the sc_avoid_ctype_macros test and changes
each use of a ctype macro like isspace to c_isspace.
This makes it so such tests (often parsing-related) is locale-independent.
Otherwise, in some odd corner cases (combination of non-C locale
and perverted inputs), I suspect that libguestfs tools would mistakenly

printing ISO/8859-1 characters
Hi,
I ran into an odd problem with the print command for R-2.0 on a windows
machine.
The icelandic character thorn (??,??) which is included in in the Latin-1
character set [iso/8859-1 char# 222 (upper case) and #254 (lower case)]
prints out incorrectly. Instead of getting the correct
character I get the octal codes for upper and lower case thorn (\336 or
\376). This only happens on a windows

[PATCH 1/1] hivexml: Base64-encode non-printable data
Some of the data in names and string values were being unsafely printed,
causing some types of XML processors to fail (e.g. Python's Expat).
This patch checks for printability of each character and outputs base64
with an encoding attribute for unsafe data.

[PATCH v2] xen/console: buffer and show origin of guest PV writes
Guests other than domain 0 using the console output have previously been
controlled by the VERBOSE define, but with no designation of which
guest''s output was on the console. This patch converts the HVM output
buffering to be used by all domains, line buffering their output and
prefixing it with the domain ID. This is especially useful for debugging
stub domains.

patch for replacing non-printable chars in filenames
There's a bug reported in Debian about the tty being screwed up by wierd
filenames, see http://bugs.debian.org/bug=242300
On the one hand, find will also do this. On the other hand, ls will
replace such chars with a question mark. Upon inspection, it appears to
be fairly simple to also do this in rsync (in the rwrite() function).
Here's a patch. Opinions? Perhaps don't do it

[PATCH 0/2] Change guestfs__*
libguestfs has used double and triple underscores in identifiers.
These aren't valid for global names in C++.
These large but completely mechanical patches change the illegal
identifiers to legal ones.
