total warning-removal for daemon/
The warnings in daemon were aggravating and risky for development (too easy to miss new ones) so I spent some time last week and today working on removing them. The first patch gets us down to almost no warnings with the original -Wall setting. That was by far the hardest part. Once I'd done that, I enabled nearly all of gcc's warnings via gnulib's warnings and manywarnings modules

[virt-v2v] "make distcheck" now passes
There were a few "infelicities" that kept the "make distcheck" test from passing. These three patches combine to fix all of them, punting on only one by disabling the install-data-hook rule. >From 7504acedcb71bd80d99abe412e6669b267cade38 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Jim Meyering <meyering at redhat.com> Date: Fri, 21 Aug 2009 13:37:18 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/3]

fix new failures from latest-from-gnulib syntax-check
There's a new syntax check rule from gnulib. It requires that you write e.g., exit (EXIT_SUCCESS), not exit (0). And the same for 1/EXIT_FAILURE and any other constants. There were a lot of violations, including a few false positives, so I started with the exemptions (see the .x-sc file below). Then I converted the vast majority automatically, with this: maint: use EXIT_SUCCESS and

[PATCH 0/3] Allow environment variables to have boolean values.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1175196 Currently if you write something like LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=0 or LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=true then it doesn't do what you probably expect. This patch series fixes that. Rich.

[PATCH] rescue: fix sscanf placeholders for --smp and --memsize
Use %d to parse them as int (since the variables for them as int) instead of %u, even if they both need to be at least > 0. --smp was already checked to be >= 1 while --memsize not, so check that the specified memory size is not < 128 (which is semi-arbitrary, but enough as a minimum threshold). --- rescue/rescue.c | 12 ++++++++++-- 1 file changed, 10 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-)

[PATCH] fuse: Add guestmount-cleanup program to handle unmounting (RHBZ#916780).
* PATCH FOR DISCUSSION ONLY - NOT TO BE APPLIED * Colin suggested something which seems eminently sensible: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=916780 I've been through a couple of rounds of trying to implement this. I started with adding the option as suggested to the guestmount program, but it tended to make the guestmount program more complex. More importantly, adding the option

[PATCH] fish: Add --rw option (does nothing yet).
This patch is meant for discussion of the issues involved. I'd like to change the default for guestfish -a / -m command line options to open read-only. This creates less opportunity to corrupt disk images by opening them for write while another VM might be using them. With this patch you can specify: guestfish --rw ... which in itself does nothing since the default is currently
