lld extra program headers
Hello all, The lld linker appears to generate extra ELF program headers and thus causes file sizes to be significantly larger than what would get with ld.gold or ld.bfd. # readelf -l test.bfd Elf file type is EXEC (Executable file) Entry point 0x4000b0 There are 2 program headers, starting at offset 64 Program Headers: Type Offset VirtAddr PhysAddr

[PATCH 4/4] build: enable gcc warnings in capitests/ and ocaml/
Here are four small patches. First, I enabled all the warnings, then I fixed the newly exposed offenses, then I put the warning-enabling patch at the end, for the sake of future bisectors: [1/4] ocaml/guestfs_c.c avoid signed/unsigned-comparison warning [2/4] ocaml/guestfs_c.c: avoid warning about initialization discarding "const" [3/4] ocaml/guestfs_c.c: avoid warning about missing

Understanding of ldd header allocation
Hello, I am currently switching to ldd from ld.bfd on a cross-platform embedded project and am facing a behaviour difference when using the same linker scripts with ld.bfd and ldd. Could anybody please give me a more reliable direction I should go with to get the same behaviour from both of the linkers? Target binary format is a 32-bit ELF executable, which is expected to consist of a single RWX

How LLD should create segments when linkerscript is used ?
I wonder what is correct way to create PT_LOADs when linkerscript is used ? Currently we create new one for each section that changes access flags. But ld seems to do different thing. Imagine we have next sections: .section .AX.1,"ax" .quad 1 .section .A.1,"a" .quad 2 .section .AW.1,"aw" .quad 3 And script: SECTIONS { . = ALIGN(CONSTANT (MAXPAGESIZE)); .AX : {

Unable to build appliance
Hello-- I've been trying to build libguestfs 1.2.14 with the appliance enabled on an older type of system at my company. Getting all the required dependencies installed has been an arduous process, but I've finally hit an obstacle I don't know how to get around. The final output of "make": + febootstrap-run initramfs -- /sbin/depmod -a ABOUT-NLS BUGS COPYING COPYING.LIB

[PATCH] libguestfs: Added gnulib includes from builddir, as suggested by the Gnulib documentation
Since some modules (`getopt', for example) may copy files into the build directory, `top_builddir/lib' is needed as well as `top_srcdir/lib'. -- GNU Gnulib manual, section 2.2 Initial import --- capitests/Makefile.am | 1 + daemon/Makefile.am | 2 +- src/Makefile.am | 2 +- 3 files changed, 3 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/capitests/Makefile.am

error : Failed to switch root mount into slave mode: Permission denied
libvirt-3.0.0 When attemping to create a virtual machine I receive the error "error : Failed to switch root mount into slave mode: Permission denied”. I’m attempting to run qemu/libvirt/virt-manager in an Arch Linux lxc container on a Ubuntu 16.04 host. The host uses zfs for its containers. The arch container is set up as a priveleged container. I do already have kvm/qemu/libvirt working

[PATCH libguestfs] tests: increase likelihood that heap abuse triggers failure
This takes advantage of glibc's MALLOC_PERTURB_. If you develop on glibc-based systems and don't yet set this via your shell's init scripts, add something like this to e.g., .bashrc: export MALLOC_PERTURB_=$(($RANDOM % 255 + 1)) This change ensures that it's enabled for anyone running "make check" and in particular for koji. There's probably documentation
