[PATCH 12/27] daemon: Reimplement ‘file_architecture’ API in OCaml.
The previously library-side ‘file_architecture’ API is reimplemented
in the daemon, in OCaml.
There are some significant differences compared to the C
implementation:
- The C code used libmagic. That is replaced by calling the ‘file’
command (because that is simpler than using the library).
- The C code had extra cases to deal with compressed files. This is
not necessary since the

[PATCH 0/12] Add support for writing to hive files
This patch series adds support for some simple operations on hive
files, and I've now tested and verified that those operations work
correctly.
All except for the last patch (12/12) are ready to be committed. The
last patch is WIP.

Build of RELENG_5 fails in libmagic
Hi,
I'm trying to build 5-STABLE, I have cvsuped the latest source, cleared
out /usr/obj and I still get this problem. Any idea what could be causing it?

[PATCH 0/4] Allow QEMU if=... (block device emulation) to be overridden
The background to this is that virt-v2v needs to boot the appliance
with a specific block device emulation (eg. IDE, not virtio), because
when it runs mkinitrd, mkinitrd will assume that the block devices
available in the appliance are also the ones which apply at guest boot
time. There's no way to override this assumption in mkinitrd
(particularly in the old mkinitrd versions that shipped

dhcp requests being ignored wit reason "not authoritative"
Hi,
I am trying to get an IP adress, nfs root host and directory information
for a xen vm on the kernel level at boot time from dhcp.
When the dhcp requests from the xen VM arrive on my server, my dhcp
server denies to give them an IP address, it''s syslog reads:
May 4 05:13:21 amalgam dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 255.255.255.255 (1.2.3.4)

[PATCH 0/2] Use link-local addresses when communicating between appliance and host (RHBZ#588763)
Couple of notes:
(1) You may need to 'make clean' after applying this patch. There is
some missing dep so it seems the appliance isn't fully rebuilt.
(2) [Comment mainly directed to Matt] This is not a candidate to be
automatically added to the stable 1.2 branch. It's far too large of a
change for a stable release. Since this change may be required for
V2V, please clone

Question about the ticket #743 omindex: delay libmagic checks
Hi,
I'm working on the ticket #743 omindex: delay libmagic checks
<https://trac.xapian.org/ticket/743>. As the ticket's
Description mention, the call to libmagic is expensive than call the stat,
so we can check the size by call the stat to get size before call
libmagic to get a mime type.
But how about the timestamps check? since timestamps check need to iterate
the DB to check if

hi, Olly, I have moved the libmagic check after the filesize check directly,

Are you using a build of omega with libmagic support enabled
(it's optional in 1.4.x, but will be a hard requirement in the next
release series)? If not, I'd try

Attempts to install a Windows driver from WinPE
One of the things we would really like to be able to do for V2V is to
install a new driver in a Windows guest. There are a couple of reasons
for this:
* The guest may not be bootable without the driver installed, for
example because the underlying virtual hardware has changed from vmscsi
to virtio.
* If the guest can boot, the alternative is to modify the guest to run a
script on next boot.

index everything? (no extensions/no mime-types)
I have around 550,000 files (4.7GB) that I need to index. It is a huge
mix of file types. I don't need access to this via web. I just use for
research locally. For now I do a grep and wait several minutes.
omindex complains of
Unknown extension: .... - skipping

Any way to use omindex to index regardless of

Anomaly in Xapian
HI all,
I'm just testing out the capabilities of xapian and omega.
Environment - Fedora15.
Disk to be indexed - 2GB? - FAT16 filesystem. Named "New Volume"
When I add a text file to the disk, by right-clicking in Fedora and choosing
Create New - > Text File
The system creates the text file as expected. I added some content/words, however, xapian-omega will not index it:

[PATCH] lib: Require libmagic.
If libmagic isn't installed then the guestfs_file_architecture API
doesn't work. This means that inspection will always return
<arch>unknown</arch> for every guest. This subtly breaks a few
features. In particular it was reported that the
virt-builder/virt-customize --install option did not work because the
"unknown" architecture of the guest was not compatible

[LLVMdev] Revised patch to make gccld link native .so's
Here is a revised patch after some suggestions:
1. Removed extraneous changes (the white space changes that are -/+
whitespace), and the commented out code.
2. Keep the warning for linking dynamic libraries in LinkLibraries.cpp
I still don't have a good solution to the problem of -L paths that include
bytecode versions of the native libraries we're trying to link. Consider the

[PATCH] New commands to list devices by UUID and label (updated patch)
A new version of this patch, previously posted here:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2009-August/thread.html#00031
I've made some of the changes that Jim suggested, but I didn't fix the
error handling of readdir because that loop always reads from a tmpfs.
It didn't seem like there would realistically be any read errors(?)
These commands are compromised in their
