Re: Screen resolution changing not working (Debian Squeeze)
Well, I installed xserver-xfree86, then xrandr works with fglrx (ati-driver). But xkb doesn't work anymore. Dunno why. XRandr vs. Xkb, chose one ;)

Screen resolution changing not working (Debian Squeeze)
I have been playing an old game, "Knights and Merchants - The Peasants Rebellion" for a long time on wine, keeping track of latest wine beta releases.
Yesterday I found it not working. The screen goes black (as usual, as there is some resolution changing done and the game will come up full screen), but then it just goes back to the initial screen; There is hardly any output:

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Output name 'default' is not the name of an output nouveau can produce
(or nvidia for that matter, afaik). This is the vesa driver or...
something. Can you supply xorg log + dmesg?

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
There is no sign of the nouveau kernel module being loaded. Make sure
it's loaded, otherwise it won't work. Some distributions blacklist it
in modprobe.conf or a related file. I believe the nvidia blob
installer might as well.
Actually, looks like you've explicitly disabled it --

X server crashes when I fire up "Display" or "Screen Resolution" control panels
Hi. I've just installed CentOS 5.4 on my IBM T61 laptop.
By default, I get the same image (duplicate screens) on the
laptop's LCD and on the external monitor; I want to set up
separate screens but my X server crashes when I start
"Display" or "Screen Resolution" control panels or press
Function-F7 which is supposed to bring up the single screen/
multiple screens

Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2142 : startup resolution issue
Hi
I am trying to get Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 to launch under Kubuntu 10.04 & Wine 1.3.6. I'm using an Nvidia 8800 GTX 768Mb GPU with Nvidia blob driver 260.19.12.
Anyway launching BF2142 (retail copy, patched to v1.5) gives me the following error (2x) in the console output streams:
Code:

Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer.
When I run xrandr, I get this output:
Code:
Screen 0: minimum 2960 x 1050, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 2960 x 1050
default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm
2960x1050 50.0*
I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When

Cannot start a secondary Xserver with resolution 6480x3840
Hi Janek,
A few things...
First off, you're not using the nouveau ddx, you're using the
modesetting ddx. This isn't a problem in itself, but if you're going
to report bugs, you should file them against the proper component.
Secondly, I'm a bit unclear as to what your setup is. A single X
server takes over a whole GPU. Recently "leasing" has been introduced

XRandR and Screen Resolution Again
Having spent all day researching xrandr and the use of metamodes, I want to know: Is there a way to monitor the wineserver process so that I can run xrandr immediately upon wineserver's termination? Correct me if I am wrong. I believe that is what I want done.
(My problem, like that of many others, is that a full-screen game leaves my display trashed. I've found the same solution,

Switching screen resolution on the fly
Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT -
to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to.
Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later
take me to "1366x768" mode.
With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for
jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes
in the xorg.conf but
