Re: WINE fails in directories with Question Marks in name
stvs wrote: > Is there a way to tell WINE that question marks in directory names are okay? WINE fails whenever I ask it to access a file from within a directory with a question mark in its name. I had the exact same problem. The only workaround is to get that folder renamed to DOS compatible characters, let comskip run through Wine, and then change the name back again. I had to change the

Unhandled exception error on single account
I'm running into a strange problem with an unhandled exception when I run a wine command using one account, but not another(!). I'd very much appreciate any help troubleshooting this, as I must run wine from the account with the problem. I've gone through and cross-checked environment variables and permissions, but nothing obvious pops out. Here's wine the way it should work on

wine on mac os x and x11
I have a console-only windows application which I'd like to run on OS X. It runs, but insists on starting X11 every time I invoke wine, even though all the app does is write to a file. According to the the documentation at http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wineusr-guide/cui-programs, wine should not require X11 for CLI programs. I've also tried invoking via wineconsole with no effect. Is

C7 + UEFI + GPT + RAID1
Hi messmer, seems that anaconda supports partitioned RAID devices. Disk selection see one mdraid device and permits to create partition on it. Rsync slow with hard links
I am running rsync throuhg cygwin and trying to "mirror" two hard drives (hd1 -> hd2). HD1 have tons of hard links (I will say about 2 millions) because I do monthly backups and have about 13 folders and maybe about 150,000 files. Every month when I make a new snapshot I would also want to mirror HD1 to HD2. I tried running rsync -aH --progress -vv /cygdrive/d/ /cygdrive/e/ I though

Problem with booting/grub (?)
Earlier this evening, I had the interesting experience of shutting down my machine (because of that lp out-of-sync problem, discussed elsewhere), and watching it not come back up. I admit that I changed out one of my DVD writers for another one, but I don't understand how that could have had any effect on this: When I restarted the machine, it came up to the point where it normally shows:

CentOS 7 grub.cfg missing on new install
Greetings - The short story is that got my new install completed with the partitioning I wanted and using software raid, but after a reboot I ended up with a grub prompt, and do not appear to have a grub.cfg file. So here is a little history of how I got here, because I know in order for anyone to help me they would subsequently ask for this information. So this post is a little long, but

GRUB2 configuration for Xen 4 on Ubuntu Linux 10.04
Hello, I have installed the Xen 4.1.1 and a working kernel 2.6.32.43 which supports Xen on a Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS. However, I have never successfully booted the Hypervisor and Dom0. The screen is always black after some kernel messages rapidly go by. I think that I may pass the wrong parameters to the kernel or Hypervisor with GRUB2. Can any one share his/her working grub.cfg for GRUB2 with

I also agree the suggested behavior makes a lot of sense and I think it is a good idea. However, some deployments may rely upon the current behavior. As an

Building LLVM 3.7.1 on OS X
Hello, I haven't found any relevant info in the docs about this. I'm trying to build LLVM 3.7.1 on OS X but it fails in the configuration phase. boot with more scsi card
hi, we've got a server with a 8 port 3ware card and 2 ide system disks. now we'd like to replace the ide disks with scsi disks or sata disks (these also recognized as scsi in the kernel). but we can't boot from it. the problem are twofold. first in the normal case the first scsi host scsi0 id the 3ware card, but grub only see the first 8 disk so if the system disk are sdi and sdj the

Adding a "boot from local hard disk" option to syslinux menu, booted from USB
Hi all, I use XP on my laptop PC, with 30 GB HD (single partition), and a 3.5" hard drive (not a stick), accessed through a USB encasing, partitioned as five logical drives. I have successfully set up syslinux to boot several Ubuntu versions from the primary USB hard drive partition, and no problems there. The problem is, I would like to have an entry in the menu, like "Boot from

After some hours I managed to modify another bootable partition (containing older software) and boot it from there. After that, I? found out
