Password sync in 3.6.0 on OS X 10.7, Lion
My company, which is a mac-heavy shop in the printing industry, needed to migrate to a faster file server. As our directory trees are very large, both Samba, and Netatalk were bogging down badly on our Linux server (Samba, due to heavy CPU usage during directory listings - the case-sensitive file system issue, and netatalk because the cnid db was getting too big). Our solution was to switch to a

Is OSX Lion a valid choice yet? Any issues?
Hi, My Snow Leopard just let me down and now it could be a "good" moment to upgrade to Lion. But I''m not sure is it an option yet. I would be using Rails 3.0.9, Ruby 1.9.2 via RVM. Postgresql DB. And probably some stuff via homebrew. Git, Versions and that type of stuff. Are the lights red for Lion since it is so fresh? Any experiences? Thanks. -- Posted via

Compiling 64-bit libFLAC/libFLAC++ on OS X Lion, anyone successful?
I have also asked this question on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8694676/compiling-64-bit-flac-libflac-in-os-x-lion), which you can answer if you're interested in reputation points. I am very unfamiliar with compiling C/C++ source of this size, and I'm having trouble debugging the issue. Basically, in the root folder of the FLAC bundle, even if I use the flags

source() or OS X Lion?
Dear R Gurus, I'm seeing some strange behavior that I can't explain. I'm generating a figure for a paper and I like to save the script (no matter how simple) for future reference. My practice is to write the script and run it using the 'source()' function. What's weird is that the resultant figure is not readable by OS X 10.7.0 (Lion). While trying to figure out what I did

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and no Samba
Since Apple killed off Samba in 10.7 and there is no way (I can find) to get Samba working correctly on there... what do we do with Wine parts that specifically need Samba? I mainly ask over getting this error message. Code: err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind

Civilization 4 OpenGL problem, Wine 1.3.31 on Mac OS Lion
Hello, all. I have a two Mac mini 4.1 (mid 2010: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 4Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 320M, Intel HDA) One has Snowleopard 10.6.8 (32-bit) installed, another - Lion 10.7.2 (64-bit). I have installed Wine 1.3.31 from MacPorts repository on both of them and attempts to run Civilization 4 Complete Edition. I've made dll substitution specific for this game using winetrics (msxml3,

OS X LION issue with Samba printing
A user who upgraded to OS X Lion could no longer add the Samba hosted printers to his system. In this account the user logon rights are limited by workstation. Checking the Samba logs showed that OS X Lion was sending "workstation" as the NetBIOS name instead of the configured NetBIOS name (same as hostname). The configured hostname is clearly sent to the DHCP server. Once I allowed that

Building R from source under Mac OS X 10.8.2?
Hello, I'm trying to build R from source under Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) by following the FAQ and I run into a problem with the Fortran compiler (downloaded from http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/tools/), specifically, gfortran-4.2.3. I have Xcode 4.6 installed along with the latest command-line tools (dated Feb. 9, 2013). When I try to run configure with or without the

Apple Mac OS X Lion and Samba PDC
Apologies if this has been discussed before I've just gotten around to joining. Those who have an Apple Mac Dev account may already be aware that Apple has withdrawn Samba from its next major OS release due out later this Summer. This leaves a certain segment of the market who used the PDC functionality unable to upgrade or being forced on to Active Directory in order to support Windows

Mac OS X 10.5 compatibility?
I was wondering if Wine lost 10.5 compatibility, or if any of the few people out there with it have noticed a problem. Up through 1.3.25 it seems to compile and work fine. On 1.3.26 and 1.3.27 the compile will fail with errors about a bunch of symbols in msxml3.dll.so that are not found. Building 1.3.26 and 1.3.27 on 10.6 or 10.7 using a 10.5 SDK it will build fine and still work on 10.6 and

Any details I should know before trying to build on OS X Snow Leopard (Darwin 10) ?
Hi, One of my Macs is kept at 10.6.8 (with Xcode 3.2.6) because it's a system I still wish to support. However, I'd like to move to clang on it, if possible. I prefer to either install a precompiled binary distribution (if it exists) or compile it on my own, but for the moment I'd prefer to avoid installing it through macports. Looking at the LLVM releases downloads page, I see

malloc error in tab-completion: OS X
I've just built R-devel (r60889) from source on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 using gcc from Xcode and gfortran from Simon. I didn't use all the recommended configuration flags only ./configure && make Still, I seem to pass "make check" and "make test-Segfault" in the tests directory with no problem, but the following leads to a persistent error + instant abort. 1)

Compilation error of R-2.14.0 on Mac OS 10.7.2
Dear R gurus, I attempt to install the latest version of R from source on my MacBook Pro, using latest versions of Xcode and gfortran for Lion and configure options: ./configure --with-libintl-prefix=/sw --enable-R-shlib (this last option necessary to further install the Rpy Python package) I got the following unreduced compilation error: gcc -std=gnu99 -dynamiclib
