I can listen to a stream locally but not from anywhere else.
>This seems like you haven't set the <hostname> correctly in the icecast >config That is the problem for external connects...thanks. the .m3u contains "http://192.168.5.33:8000/ices.ogg" which is actually fine for my purposes since I'm not looking to make this a public stream (I'll just be using it for tunes at work (via VPN), eventually streaming a live feed

Also don't forget that the full version of WinAmp is required to play oggs. The lite version doesn't support it. iTunes can play local .ogg files but not streams if you download the ogg components from qtcomponents.sf.net. I haven't messed with real player, and I have no intention of doing so. Joel Karl Heyes wrote: > On Mon, 2005-01-31 at 16:46, Brian Beck wrote: >

Hi all, Icecast 2.2.0, ices 2.0, Fedora Core 3, source install (not rpm). On the local machine that icecast is running on, everything is fine and I can play by browsing to localhost or it's 192.168.5.33 address. Either bring up the page showing the stream(s) available and clicking on the stream will start realplayer from mozilla on the FC3 box. Great. >From any other machine on the LAN

The m3u is down loaded to the client. The client [user] determines rhe player, what ever is the default player. Media player is not a good player, since it does not read the meta data well. If u right click on the m3u and have other players you can select. I find itunes the best for icecast if you are looking at having the client play On January 4, 2016 3:41:50 PM Hannah Carroll

Ok, I don't know what I'm doing wrong here, so I signed up to the mailing list. Here's the situation: I have an extensive music collection and have just purchased an iPod. I already have ripped a few of my CDs (about 4Gb worth) in an mp3 format (previously had an mp3 CD player), but I'm not planning to rip the rest of my CD collection in an mp3 format. At the moment, I'm

DAAP maybe? (Re: multichannel streaming)
Hi, Would DAAP help somehow? Digital Audio Access Protocol <http://www.opendaap.org/> I do believe since it's based on iTunes, and one can "scrub" a properly networked file with iTunes, that it's DAAP actually includes this feature. But both ends must be using this protocol. (iTunes by itself can only share playlists with your intra-net shared machines. It is

Quicktime + FLAC?
If i could find some good documentation on quicktime, i'd probably give it a shot... since i already have most of the infrastructure already for directshow. I had a look a few times for detailed info on quicktime, and it all looked pretty painful. Not to mention all the base media handler code provided for the sdk, says not suitable for bitrates greater than like 32kpbs which is useless

Live stuff -- voice to music to voice etc. ?
Hi all, I have the Icecast2 server running perfectly and the iceS streamer feeding it either /dev/dsp or a playlist of ogg files, depending on which config I run iceS with (I have three config files: one for live, one for music, and one default (current)). I'm using Slackware w/the 2.4.22 kernel. The problem I'm having is perhaps theoretical: how can I talk a little, play some

Indexed FLAC file?
.m3u and .pls playlist files are pretty common and most major media players support them, maybe even embedded ones like the one in your car. David's right, the best thing is to make a database of your stuff (iTunes was good, the last time I had a mac), but then that won't work in your car or anything. For a long time I've wanted to make a web-based music database that does the tables

It didn't look that bad to me; just a lot of time figuring out how you're supposed to do things. But then, I have some background in MacOS programming. However, people in the past have hit bugs pretty fast. That's part

redirect a defunct sc stream to icecast stream
Karl, Have you got any ideas on some specific techniques to contain the details I want? I created an html file with a meta refresh to the m3u url, and this new listen.pls file actually works from IE, firing up a media player and loading the m3u playlist/stream. But it does not work from Netscape or Firefox. They send the listen.pls web page to my media player. Most of these redirect links

perfect html player for Icacast ?
You do not need a "perfect player"- almost all media players can stream audio, too. What you need is to save the playlist (.m3u by default) and tell your media player to play that.
