8.2.2004 Latest yum update renders machine unbootable
I am running an Intel x64 machine using UEFI to boot an SSD. Installing the latest yum update which includes grub2 and kernel 4.18.0-193.14.2.el8_2.x86_64 renders the machine unbootable, blank screen where grub should be, no error messages, just hangs. After some hours I managed to modify another bootable partition (containing older software) and boot it from there. After that, I? found out

Sharing virtualizing physical Server 2008R2 experience on CentOS 7
Not as smooth an experience as I had assumed it would be after a test run with a clean install worked perfectly. So figured I would share the experience in case anybody else runs into similar situation since not all information are consolidated in a single place. Physical machine in question is a 4yr W2008R2 server (non-raided!) running custom app from defunct developer which is why I am

No Runes of Magic with Wine 1.1.27
Hello, I just upgraded to the latest Wine Version 1.1.27. Unfortunately Runes of Magic won't start at all. I made a fresh installation, the startscreen (the one where you download patches) pops up and downloads the latest patches. When I click on the start button the window closes and nothing else happens. Starting the game again won't even bring up the start screen anymore. Only an

Problem with all programs run with wine
So my issue is that most while most app's open just fine, i can't intereact with anything in them. i can't click on anything within the window. For example, in winefile the cursor isn't even visible while in the winefile window, and I cant click to navigate or even to close the window. I also can't use the keyboard to do anything but quit x11 after opening something with wine.

confidence in partitioning tool (6.2)
I have a Windows 7 laptop that I want to make dual boot with CentOS 6.2. My plan was to use the Windows Disk Management tool to partition the disk, but I do not have the needed admin rights on the box to use that. Has anyone used the partitioning tool that comes with 6.2 to do this? Can I have some level of confidence that it will not mess things up so that I cannot boot into Windows? if it screws

WINE cannot create a window
Hi all, I am using WINE that I compiled in a 32bit chroot environment in 64bit Archlinux. Following the guide located at: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Install_bundled_32-bit_system_in_Arch64 I created the chroot environment, installed 32bit versions of the WINE dependencies, and accessed WINE in the 32bit chroot from the 64bit environment with schroot. Everything works well except when I

Fwd: btrfs-image from bad filesystem
I''m using Btrfs v0.20-rc1-253-g7854c8b on kernel 3.10.10-1-ARCH. I''ve been using this btrfs filesystem on an SSD for a little under a year with no problems until now. I noticed it was getting a bit full (~79%) and tried to do some cleanup by removing old snapshots. Immediately after, the filesystem went into read only mode. I then followed Hugo Mill''s advice (that was
