winemp3, mpg123 Patent concerns
Hi all, I check WineHQ today and was suprised that the new dev version was released on a Wednesday, not a Friday. Then I saw "Use of external libmpg123 for mp3 decoding." [Shocked] Now MP3 playback is built in? Or does this feature only hook onto an external program? If it's built in then Wine is illegal in my country, where software patents apply. Or does software patents only

Problem playing several different games, swrast_dri
I'm having difficulties getting several different games to run in wine, namely the Japanese version (pre-translation-patch) of Cave Story/Doukutsu Monogatari. I don't think locale is the issue here, since I'm getting the same error no matter if I set up a Japanese locale or not. The backtrace when I try to run wine is: Code: --% wine Doukutsu.exe err:module:load_builtin_dll failed

Europa Universalis 2 crash (Ubuntu 8.04 Wine 1.1.10)
According to the AppDB EU2 1.09 has a platinum rating, but it's constantly crashing on me. I installed the game from the CD, updated to the latest version (1.09), and the game launches just fine. When it gets into the menu I notice that it's running a lot slower than it should be. I can start a single player game and it still runs slow, and then crashes. It doesn't matter what I do in

using Frauenhofer mp3 codec
I tried to use the Frauenhofer mp3 codec and I thought I succeeded when removing winemp3 from the registry. But the entry gets created again the next time wine starts.... so how do I use the Frauenhofer codec instead of the winemp3.acm.so. The only way I found till now is by removing/renaming that file. That can't be the right way. So what is the right way to do that? As for why I want

Hello everybody, I've got a problem with wine and I couldn't find how to solve it (there are solution on similar problems on Internet but none worked for me): I need to install it but I must patch it before. Crysis on Wine? Works... kinda? help?
I love puppy... A LOT. It has offered me the fastest processing out of all the OS's I've tried, and it just works, with every PC! I first started using it for my Java servers. It was phenomenal, no issues, extremely fast. Then I eventually switched my main OS to puppy. I modded and played a game called 'Minecraft', another java based game... That was also, phenomenal. My suped

Sketchup 8
I gave up about year ago on this issue, but now i have removed my win partition and REALLY need to get the good 'ol sketchup running. Already tried basic debugging tips posted on the wiki page (eg. editing registry, turning FX off, unchecking "always show at startup"). Yet no luck. It seems to be loading all tools, even the screen can be seen for a fraction of a second, and then it

Counter Strike Source Won't load.
Okay so I have just installed Fedora 16 64-bit. Coming from a Ubuntu user I'm well aware that counter strike source works great under linux. I've been trying to get it to work but every time I try to load it, it loads for a moment and then crashes. I have the proprietary AMD ATI drivers for my ATI Radeon HD 5750. They seem to be rendering fine according to the debugger. I'm currently

1.1.29 no more mp3 support
Hi there When I build wine-1.1.29 from source i get the error message: Code: configure: libmpg123 32-bit development files not found (or too old), mp3 codec won't be supported. I do not get this message when I build 1.1.28. I was trying that to make sure its not a problem with a missing package on my system. I am using Fedora 11 x86_64. I don't know of any libmpg123 devel package.
