Portal 2 crashes and no 3D acceleration
Hi there!
I installed Linux Mint on my laptop a few days ago. Installed Wine from the software manager. Works fine.
I installed Steam through the Winetricks app. Okay, all good. Installed Bejeweled 3. Loaded and all, but didn't have 3D acceleration. Tried to enable that in the settings, restarted the game (a restart was required)....disabled again. So I installed DirectX 9 and components

Re: Portal 2 can't run setup EXE
Maybe you downloaded setup files to the Windows HDD part? I mean, on my laptop I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed with Windows, & I just moved setup.exe & other files for Portal 2 from my
media/windows/downloads/games/portal 2
to the other directory which is in the Linux's HDD part (for example, /home/downloads/portal).
setup ran successfully)

A single command to open Portal 2 in a debug console.
Due to some unknown problem I can only run Portal 2 by going to Winetricks --> Select 'steam' prefix --> Run a command line shell --> # wine PATH_TO_PORTAL2.EXE
This works perfectly fine, but it is kind of tedious. I know of the WINEDEBUG command but I do not understand the syntax. I would like to know a way to do all of the steps at once with a single command. I can either make

Passing inormation from pass to lowering
Hi Sam,
I think an intrinsic would be ideal, but I couldn't figure out how to replace calls with an arbitrary number of arguments with a call to an intrinsic. In particular, I would like to call a trampoline instead of the original function. The trampoline performs certain actions and then jumps to the original callee. Would I have to call the intrinsic with the original arguments and then

Passing inormation from pass to lowering
Hi!
I have written a ModulePass that calculates various things and adds custom metadata attributes to certain instructions. Depending on the attributes, I would like to change the machine code of these instructions. For example, I would like to replace certain calls with jumps, but as far as I can tell the IR metadata is not accessible anymore on the level of machine instructions (e.g. in the

Tremor crash on armel
Hi,
Debian Project News drew my attention to an RFH
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=698378 for a crash in
libvorbisidec (tremor) on ARM systems.
I have been in contact with Daniel Kahn Gillmor proposing to try to help
solve this crash on armel.
Unfortunately Daniel hasn't been able to reproduce it recently.
Can anyone shed any light on this crash or on how to reproduce

Samba Domain and OpenVPN
Hello,
we have a new branch office about 200 kilometers away from our main office.
I established a connection between the two with OpenVPN. Right now a single
Windows-PC is connected to our OpenVPN-Server, which acts as a bridge to
our internal network.
Now the other (Windows) clients - 7 units - and the employees at the
branch office shall be integrated in our existing Samba Domain.

Updated steam, Portal 1 won't launch
I played Portal 1 for a while yesterday. When I was done, Steam asked to be updated and I let it. Since that update Portal has refused to launch.
Here's what happens:
The intro videos play, and then the screen stays black. There is absolutely no disk or CPU activity. It's like it just refuses to load.
System monitor says hl2.exe is at "futex_waite_queue_me"

Portal Menu Text missing!
Hi guys,
I've installed Portal, but the menu text is missing. I'm not quite sure why and how to fix it.
I'm using an ATi Radeon 5870, with the Catalyst 10.6 drivers installed and Wine v1.2 rc5.
Any help is appreciated. :)

captive portal
Hello,
Forgive the cross-posting, but googling showed results from these two
lists.
I'm looking to set up a WiFi gateway with two nics, and iptables. The
catch is i have to use a captive portal as well to ensure all traffic goes
to a single destination. I've read about several packages, but haven't seen
any docs that say how to integrate everything. If anyone has this setup

Captive Portal
Hi All, I'm trying to set up a Captive Portal using a Centos6 box. I've
been experimenting with WiFiDog but it looks like development has
faltered and I'm chasing my tail getting all the bits of PHP together
for it to run. Some bits I've got look like Alpha code.
What I'm trying to accomplish is a a simple firewall type system for a
public WiFi, that redirects users to a

Does Cent OS Come With Any Kind Of Customer Portal Application(s)
Other than coding something yourself...does Cent OS come with any kind of portal application(s) that would allow remote users to purchase a domain name through me or log in and edit their domains settings and go active in my DNS? Has anyone set anything like this up before using Cent OS? The closest thing I can think of is a Register.com, GoDaddy.com, or Load.com type interface that customers can

Which features would you like to see on the crantastic.org community portal?
Hi,
As some of you know, one of the R Projects ideas for GSOC 2009 is to
expand the crantastic.org portal. Some ideas for what should be done
is mentioned in Hadley Wickham's project description [1], others have
been briefly mentioned on this mailing list before. Undoubtedly,
however, there are many other good ideas out there that could be
implemented. Please suggest any ideas you might have

JobsOnRails and Yet Another Portal
I just launched two Rails projects that I''ve been sitting on for a
while.
The first is JobsOnRails.com, which I announced here back in March.
After the 37''s created their nifty job board I decided to shelve mine,
but have launched it anyway because it was just about finished.
There isn''t much on it right now, but it''s free and has a fun domain, so
