Making Wine Firefox the default browser
OK, I see posts all over the place for the opposite problem -- people want wine apps to open their linux default browser. But I have the opposite problem. I use a piece of software (GradeQuick) that only runs on Windows (and Mac sometimes when it feels like it). But it runs by first opening the web page which called it (www.edline.net), and it will not run through Linux. So when I click,

Firefox as the standard browser
Hi Folks, I use WINE 1.1.8 from the actual repository under Ubuntu 8.10, Intrepid Ibex. Freshly installed, I set up Firefox and got it running. It was asking wether I want it to be the standard browser and I agreed. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to register itself in this way. It is asking again and again when I restart it. The problem is, that I want to use an application which calls URLs

Let Wine program pop up URL links in default browser, NOT IE
A few versions back, when one of my wine'd program needed to show an URL page, it (through Wine of course) sent that link to my default browser (Firefox) in Linux. It worked like this until version 1.1.35. Starting with 1.1.36, it pops up an IE window instead, which doesn't work on the URL and I don't want. Is there a way to reset its behavior so that the link is sent to my Firefox?

Problem with Firefox and SSH/browser
Hi folks, I have a problem, shame on me I feel as newbie, I cannot open Firefox though ssh. ssh server is 7.2 and ssh client (running Xorg) is Fedora 23. Firefox does not open. I've tried a lot of methods, even adding xauth cookie, and for example: firefox --no-remote --no-xshm debug3: receive packet: type 90 debug1: client_input_channel_open: ctype x11 rchan 2 win 65536 max 16384 debug1:

Firefox on Wine as preferred browser
Not just for dogfooding, but because it's actually faster than running the native binary: The reason is not clear - hypotheses include MSVC++ builds being much better optimised than gcc builds. I'm sure people are investigating closely. Anyway, I just reinstalled Ubuntu 8.10 and put KDE 4.2 on top and *didn't* install the distro Firefox. No, I got Shiretoko (FF 3.1 nightly) win32

R-2.1.0 search engine works with mozilla browser but not firefox
I'm running R-2.1.0 on a Linux box and found that the HTML search engine help would not work with Firefox 1.0.3 but would work with Mozilla 1.7.7. I have Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0_02 installed. With Firefox, when I launch help.start() and click to the search engine, it brings up the first page with "Applet SearchEngine started" in the status bar, but clicking on one of the

CentOS 5.4 64-bit: Java web browser plugin for 64-bit FireFox?
Does there exist *anywhere* a Java web browser plugin for 64-bit FireFox? The SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK (jdk-6u18-linux-amd64.rpm) does NOT include the Java web browser plugin library. java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.2.b09.el5.x86_64.rpm does not have one either. Should I install the *32-bit* SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK and use the 32-64 bit wrapper? I've searched the web and read the wiki

Firefox esr repackage
I maintain a desktop oriented repo for CentOS and last I checked a year or so ago, I got over 150k+ unique IPs with yum user agent downloading stuff from it. It's a bit anecdotal as perhaps not all are actual desktop users and some users were using multiple IPs (dhcp), but it shows there are quite a few users out there running CentOS for desktop purposes. There are desktop focused distros

Strange black boxes in firefox web browser
I try to run Mozilla Firefox, and it runs pretty well, but there are black boxes all over the graphics, so you can't see quite a bit of the screen. Here's the terminal output: Code: $ /usr/ports/emulators/wine/work/wine-1.1.18/wine "C:/Program Files/firefox/firefox.exe"

CentOS5: Can't Access the Web Using Firefox Web Browser
Many times (not always) when I click on a URL in an email, the cursor (rotating arrow) lasts for 5-10 seconds, then nada. If I exit email to the desktop, nether the tool-bar icon, nor the Applications->Internet->Firefox Web Browser route will get me unto the web although the cursor shows a rotating arrow for a few seconds. Some other task may be executing as the hard disk is working
