Font '?' cannot be found when running .NET apps
Hi, I've installed wine-1.3.9 on Fedora 13 x64. I've installed the i686 version due to the issues with x64 Wine and .NET. When I try to run a .NET WinForms application, I get the error: Font '?' cannot be found. This occurs even with a simple test application which just puts up a form with two buttons on it. I have installed corefonts and dotnet20, and drive_c/windows/fonts

Console font wrong in Windows apps
I have several Windows apps that run via wine, and the font they use on the screen is not right. I'm not sure how to describe it, if I knew how to take a screenshot of the app I'd do it, but print screen button does not seem to do anything. The fonts appear as if half of the pixels making up the font are missing, and the text is barely readable. It isn't just one app - G6FTP server and

no font could be found for family "Arial"
I was re-running some code that I hadn't run in a couple of months to make barplots in R. I didn't change a single thing in the script, but the plots wouldn't work this time around. The plot itself (the bars and axes) will graph in the window, but no text appears. In the console it says I have a number of errors, all of which say "no font could be found for family

Font family not found in Windows font database
Dear R Gurus, I have a fairly simple problem, but I haven't been able to find the answer on 'the google' or in the r-help archives. I am generating plots on both Windows and OS X where I need to guarantee that the font used is Arial. In my plot command I specify 'fontfamily="Arial"'. The problem is that on Windows I'm getting the following warning: Warning

mac install no font found problem in quartz display
Dear list, I was attempted to install 2.7.1 in my mac only recently because of the fantastic quartz display support. I had no problem in building from source. But after installation, I always got font warnings as following when using quartz: Warning messages: 1: In axis(side = side, at = at, labels = labels, ...) ... : no font could be found for family "Arial" .... 33: In

Drive not found-problem when running programs in Wine
My wife has a Asus Eee (running the original Xandros Linux), on which she wants to run the Rosetta Stone language self-learning software. Naturally, we have it in a Windows-version, so I installed Wine, copied the files on the CD-ROM to a USB memory stick, ran the installer under Wine, and everything worked, to my surprise, without more than a few glitches and re-tries. So the program itself

Unable to run Watchtower Library 2007 Japanese : font ?
Hello, I was using both version of WTLib 2007 (French and Japanese) under Unbuntu7.10 and Wine 0.9.47 and it worked fine with just an installation of VCRedist and some japanese fonts in windows folder. But recently i moved my system to the new Ubuntu8.04 with the last version of wine : 1.0 RC1. I read that i don't need to install vcredist and font anymore. It's supposed to be a platinum

fonts in apps are anti-aliased in contrast to system setting
System: OpenSuse 11 with wine-1.1.2 Environment: MS truetype fonts are installed for SUSE, and the system is set according to http://en.opensuse.org/Optimal_Use_of_Fonts_on_SuSE, so anti-aliasing is disabled for font size under 13, the bytecode interpreter threshold is set to 18 points. Problem: The settings are working for native Linux programs, the fonts are sharp. However in windows

Tiny font on the menu bar of programs running under wine
Hi, I wish someone could help me to change the menu bar fonts of Origin 7.5 running in Wine. The program works fine, except for the font of the menu (file, edit, tools, ....) bar that are tiny. How can I make them bigger? I'm running Kubuntu Linux, on a Dell Inspiron 8200 Thanks, Marco

Weird font in Firefox
Has anyone else had an issue with the font in Firefox? In particular, the font up on the toolbar, buttons, and any text that you type in on a website? I recently installed Firefox (mostly so I can access pages that require the most recent version of Flash) and I get an italicized font with a clear line through the middle of it in the locations I mentioned. It's readable, but just barely.

When is font fallback and/or non-Unicode support scheduled to be fully implemented?
Font fallback, at least for simplified Chinese, doesn't work at all. (Characters are displayed as boxes usually) Users have to modify the fonts via winecfg. Support for non-Unicode programs is also imcomplete (displayed as weird characters that most probably belong to some European charset).

Why is app defaulting to Captain Podd font?
I'm running Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 5.2 under Wine 0.9.26, and it defaults to the bizarre "Captain Podd" font as its default screen and print font. It appears there are no knobs or registry entries to override this default font for some things when printing. My Wine is compiled from source to include the patch fix for bug #5669 (unrelated to fonts and printing). I'm

ggplot facet label font size
How do I change the font size in the facet labels along the edges of the plot? For example (from the ggplot help file): p<-ggplot(tips, sex ~ smoker, aesthetics=list(x=tip/total_bill)) gghistogram(p) In this plot, the facet labels are "smoker: No", "smoker: Yes", "sex: Female", "sex: Male". What command can I use to reduce the font size of

Starcraft cannot find font/font.gid
Hello, I am sure you guys are WAY tired of Starcraft questions, so let apologize in advance. I've looked through the archives on Google, and can't find this problem specifically, so I'll ask and hope for the best. I can install Starcraft (and for that matter Warcraft BNE which has the same problem), but when I try to run them I get a message that they cannot find

Wine Font Problem with VB app in Ubuntu
Greetings. I have been trying to run a VB6 application in Ubuntu using Wine, but it has a significant font issue. Having been successful in RedHat, where there was no problem running the Application's fonts in Wine, it is puzzling why this is not so in Ubuntu. I have followed the support messages (both archived and current) to try to correct the problem. I have installed the

Font anti-aliasing in wine?
One of the things that DOES make a big difference for me is font-antialiasing (AA). (OK, maybe I am picky). Does anyone have experience/knowledge on that subject? What surprises me is that for a few fonts (BitStream Vera Sans, for instance), it is active, whereas it is completely absent for most others. Why is that? (BTW, I just found out that I get the best results so far for the new MS font

X11 font at size 22 could not be loaded
I'm not sure this is a bug in R. Since a few weeks I have a new PC, SuSE 8.0 installed. When running demo(graphics) I get after a few graphs: Error in title(main = "January Pie Sales", cex.main = 1.8, font.main = 1) : X11 font at size 22 could not be loaded And the demo stops. This is in R 1.6.0. I get the same in R 1.5.1 on HP-UX, but using my PC as the X-server.
