Black background in WoW with direct x.
Hello. I am an avid gamer and someone who always wants to go full Linux, but I always end up booting into Windows more than I want just to game.
I am currently only playing WoW which I know runs flawlessly in WINE so I decided to swap back over.
Everything was working fine and I decided to do a reinstall of Ubuntu going from 10.04 to 10.10, so I did a full format and reinstall.
I just run WoW

It's been a long while for me and linux-gaming. Having somewhat followed the wine progress made over the last 20 years, I must say I am quite impressed.
So I decided to make a pet project.
I want to play EVE Online on Linux. I used to play WoW, but have "upgraded" since, hehe...

ATI control center screen identifier always turned on
Ubunty Natty 11.04
Wine: 1.3.26
I have tried two games (Ground Control and Puzzle Agent) in Wine 1.3.26, and when the games switches to full screen, the ATI control center's screen identifier is activated, which shows a 1 in a red square in the top-left corner or in the middle of the screen. I am able to ALT-TAB in GC and turn off the identifier, but in PA ALT-TAB does not work, as the game

successful ATI card for WINE gaming?
Is there current or semi-current ATI video card that people are having good
luck with for video games through WINE? I'm going to need a new card soon and
we have had a long run of bad luck with the quality of Nvidia cards so I would
like to give ATI a try. I know the driver improvements for Linux have been
slow to arrive, but if anyone has a card they can recommend it would give me a

So I'm making HQ videos of gaming on linux, got any feedback
So I've got some experience with wine, some experience recording, and a brand new gaming rig. I'm putting them to use making some gaming videos.
I've already uploaded Crysis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_X7qrIABig), Crysis 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sVS_x7F844&feature=g-upl), Deus Ex HR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozPbCxIJejc), and the first GW2 beta

Asterisk and festival
I'm having trouble getting festival to work with asterisk. We are running
debian (sarge) and got asterisk from CVS. Here's what I'm using as far as
festival goes.
Debian (Sarge)
gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-3)
Connected to Asterisk CVS-HEAD-07/28/04-21:08:19
festival-1.4.3-release.tar.gz
speech-tools_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz
I got patches for both of these.

Gaming support with different hardware vendors (esp. ATI)
Hi all!
I recently got an ATI Radeon HD 3850 card and now noticed that with the
fglrx driver many games that look well in AppDB do not run properly on
this hardware (Supreme Commander ingame: flickering static garbage, Prince
of Persia SoT has several issues that completely garble ingame graphics).
Older games (not using shaders among other things) seem to run fine - need
to do more testing

ATI (rv350) + open-source driver + wine gaming issues
Hello everyone. I seem to have a bit of a problem running some 3D accelerated games under wine, while using the open-source ATI Radeon driver. My graphics card is Radeon 9700, and the open-source drivers overall work much better than the proprietary fglrx.
The fglrx driver allows me (in most cases) to run games like Temple of Elemental Evil (particularily) or Morrowind normally, but I can't

I've searched all around and even found a reference or two that the
problem exists but I'm not seeing the fix.
thanks!

ATI X550 chipset
Hi,
I'm about to buy new video card, and was looking at ATI PCI-E Radeon X550.
However, I don't see that particular chipset mentioned anywhere in docs. The
X300 is there, as well as X600 and X800. Does anybody have Radeon X550 card
running under CentOS 4? With 3D acceleration?
Thanks,

Questions when running WOW and other games in frames.
I have a numbers of questions. I know about half of them are probably program related (World of Warcraft) but I figured I'd group them together for the most part.
First the states. I'm using a Dell Inspiron Laptop (their Ubuntu line). I reinstalled Linux myself (had to redo the partitions) and dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7, Wow does work under Windows 7, but what's the fun in
