Help on the multivariate interpolation with R
Hello,
I work on the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and I am looking for a
function in a R package which done the multivariate interpolation.
My problem is: For all i=1, ..., n, I have values of (xi1, xi2, ...,
xi7)in IR^7 and f(xi1, xi2, ..., xi7)in R and I have also values of (x'i1,
x'i2, ..., x'i7) in IR^7 and I need f(x'i1, x'i2, ..., x'i7) in R by
interpolation.

creating built-in firewall for Wine
Hello!
I want to have firewall/monitor in wine. Configuring Linux firewall is an external solution that affects all programs etc.
The idea is to create configuration file for black- and/or while- list that would be analysed by wine during connections requests. The brute way is to modify ws2_32 dll source directly, but maybe there is more accurate way.
Could you suggest where to start digging?

what information can program get about underlying system
Hello,
I frequently run untrusted programs through wine and wonder, how much of underlying linux system do I expose to those programs. I believe, that wine is quite free of bugs, but I am not an expert of Windows API and the level wine implements them.
I am particularly interested in these issues:
* If I do not connect my filesystem to wine in any way (through winecfg), is there a possibility

Using setfacl to control access to /dev/kqemu
Solaris 10U3, latest kqemu, qemu-0.9.0-CVS plus TAP patch.
I''m aware that a fair amount of "rootish" access is required for the TAP and bridge
stuff, and I''m working on that. As kind of a secuirty thought, I figured
I''d use setfacl to give myself access to the /dev/kqemu device instead
of leaving it mode 664 or 666.
However, that didn''t work.

which distro for asterisk?
Hi
I want to play a bit with Asterisk. I currentlly install a new system
for that and I would like to get your recommendations regarding the
linux distro to use there.
This is NOT intended to become a general distro flame war. My favorite
distro is ******** and no argument that you flame will convince me here
(probably because I've heard it before).
However I would like to minimize the OS

Icecast, Liveice... experiences?
Hello.
We have been using LiveIce to serve mp3 streams for 10 months or so. So
far, IceCast has been pretty reliable. Well, until LiveIce is introduced
into the picture. We originally tried LiveIce running on FreeBSD. It ran
for a while, but we suffered wierd problems: disconnects, skips and
such. We are streaming from a radio receiver -- at 28800 compatible
bitrates.
So we switched to the

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Ok...did some checking. I forgot to mention that I killed dead syslogd. Not just a -HUP but an actual kill and restarted. I did this several times. I was trying to get something else to work.
Anyway, I killed it again this morning and restarted. The infect message went away immediately.
Could this have been the problem?

Can't load GDI from background service
I am running a win32 application that has a graphics and command line mode; I use the command line mode. When I login and run from a terminal, it works fine under Wine, but when I run it as a service via a script in /etc/init.d, it fails. I have it set up so the service runs as my account, not root.
It gives the following messages:

Wine and Parted Magic and Asus and Fingerprints
So I had stuff in the Asus Data Security Manager and I only had it locked by fingerprint, no typed password. My computer isn't starting for whatever reason so I'm planning on switching to Windows 7 but I need to get the data from my vault. I was hoping I could open the program through wine so I installed wine on my parted magic and booted up through usb and I click the security manager exe

Max ActiveX/COM Servers
Hello All,
Am developing in Visual Basic 6 and am trying to create multiple standalone Server EXEs (each running as its own process).
The goal is to run an application on a scientific computing cluster with 1,000+ cores.
Under WinXP I can create 500-600 or more processes simultaneously. Under Ubuntu Linux/Wine however, it appears to be limited to about 60. Trying to create additional

global wine installation
Hello forum,
I am a Teacher at a German school and I want to get rid of Windows.
I successfully installed Ubuntu 10.04LTS and configured the system to
run as needed.
My Problem is the following:
I have 900 Users. If all of them use wine to start a program, every user installs his own .wine directory with all the content.
Soon I have gigabytes of redundant stuff.
Also I need to install some

migrating windows applications by packing wine+app in a deb?
Hello,
I recently posted my experimental thoughts in the playonlinux forums, but I really want to open all possible channels to get feedback for the idea to deliver a complete (for the certain windows-app optimized) wine-structure, windows app and all nessassary wrapper scripts for processing the app in a deb.
This would mean that every single application(-group) brings its own fitting

clearcase and samba
FYI:,
I'm fairly new to samba (a couple of months now), and have experimented -
unsuccessfully - with getting it
to work with clearcase. Does anyone have a how-to, or a list of gotcha's for
setting up clearcase with samba?
Thanks in advance for any information you can send me.

Mysterious 15 second startup delay running Wine as www-data
I'm using Wine to run a text mode cgi-bin Win32 program on Ubuntu 9.10. If I run it under my regular account, or via
sudo -H -u www-data ./mycgi.exe
it runs instantly (< 1 sec.)
When run as a cgi-bin program (therefore as www-data user), there is a (measured) 15 second delay and then the program runs in 350ms and the data is returned to the client.
Any idea what might be causing this

[ANNOUNCE] libXi 1.2.99.2
libXi is moving fast, and having tarballs can make it easier on testers. So
here it is, the first libXi tarball including XI2.
Changelog below includes all changes since the bump from the stable 1.2
branch.
Note that libXi is not stable yet in regards to the XI2 API.
Cheers,
