Mass Effect and dinput8
Hello. I had Mass Effect working really well awhile ago with wine 1.2. Somehow the particular prefix I used for it got deleted, and I've forgotten the magic combination I used to get it running. I was using the mouse patch from http://bugs2.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25097 and had set MouseWarpOverride to force-box in the registry, as well as using winetricks to install dotnet 20,

Input slowdown with Mass Effect in git
This usually occurs to me after about 15-20 minutes of playing Mass Effect in git and the latest xorg-server for gentoo (1.10.2). Overrides are d3dx9_36 and dinput8 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16822). After some time, the input response from the keyboard slows to about 1000 ms, hence making the game unplayable. The mouse input however remains sharp. When I quit the game, the keyboard

Ntdll hang when starting a new game in Mass Effect
Native dinput8 and d3dx9_36 have to be used in order for the game to load and workaround mouse input (see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16822). When I start a new game, after setting up Shepard's profile and waiting for the first cinematic to play there is an ntdll error which freezes the game. Any clue on how to workaround it? Mouse wrap problem with Mass Effect on Mac (wine 1.3.23)
I used Wineskin to wrap Mass Effect (1). Wineskin helps me a lot with finding working and non-working versions of Wine and has worked very well for me in the past. With versions later than 1.3.23, (26, 27, 28 ) the game freezes after character creation. So I used 1.3.23. the problem is (still) that the mouse doesn't wrap in-game. This makes the game almost unplayable in combat sequences,

[Mass Effect] I feel myself awfully tired
Hello everybody. A have spent 20days+nights trying to get my Mass Effect work on wine some way... As you can easilly predict, with no success. It was hard time with up to 6 combinations of display driver, 24 or more versions of wine and endless chain of winetricks and attempts to do without. >From the point I can say I am very hard on doing something and with my brains, fingers and Google

Mass Effect, Problem With Mouse
Hello, In fact, if i play with Wine 1.1.38 not patched, i can move my mouse but i can't use it in the menu. But during a game, it's different. Left and Right clic don't work and move the mouse doesn't work too. Mainly when i want choose a conversation's option when Sheppard must to speak. You managed to resolve this problem with which patch? There are more patch and i

Mass Effect 2 bug 23135
Hello. I am wondering if anyone is playing Mass Effect 2 with the latest wine, (patched or otherwise) and if so, are you using a dual core cpu? Mine is an AMD am2 6000+, and I have trouble with bug 23135, Mass Effect 2 hangs/crashes after Sheppard is reanimated. Dan Kegel is thinking of closing the bug under suspicion that it's a game glitch, now a wine problem, and some posts on the bioware

Mass Effect fails to install
Hi! I have tried to install Mass Effect several times on my Thinkpad L520 Notebook with Linux Mint 12 and wine 1.3.35 from the ubuntu-wine ppa. I have two discs, the first DVD installs the game, the second CD patches it to version 1.01a, with some Czech and Hungarian extensions. I guess the first DVD is for version 1.00, but I could't find out. My problem is, even the first installing process

Cannot Connect to Authentication Server - Mass Effect 1
So I bought ME1 off amazon and DL/Install went fine using Wine on my Macbook Pro with 10.6.8. The 'launcher' for the game opens and when I click Play a message appears saying that it couldn't reach the authentication server and that I need to check my internet connection. The version of internet explorer that came pre-installed with Wine seems to be able to connect to the internet

Mass Effect 2 help?
Long-time user of Wine for various applications, but for the first time I'm hitting a brick wall, so I registered here to get some help with my problem. Short and sweet, I managed to get a friend's copy of Mass Effect about a year ago, and very much enjoyed it when playing it in Wine. However something in the DRM or the way it was written must've been changed in the second, because I

Raw USB mass storage device access
Hello. I am posting here because I can't find a simple answer for something I want to do. I want raw device access to a USB mass storage device. A CF card to be more precise. The card is not set up in a way Linux can recognise as a mountable volume. I just want to know two things: how can I point Wine at the block device, and how can I give the program read/write access to it? I know it

I want to see if moist or sub interacts with mum for any of the pops, but I am getting an error

Lisp-stat and R? [was: Re: Status?]
John Fox (see below) raises important questions for the Lisp-stat community (and perhaps the R community) to consider. This message thread was not cross-posted to r-devel@lists.r-project.org, so I do so now. I have never been an active or particularly adept Lisp-stat programmer. But I have worked on or used several projects for which Lisp-stat seemed the ideal environment-- for implementing

Echo cancellation, when software doesn't cut it. Whats next?
Over the last couple weeks I've tried everything I could get my hands on in an attempt to get rid of my echo problems. Using a CVS checkout of just yesterday, I've tried every echo cancellation routine in zconfig.h (including Mark2 w/Aggressive) , as well as the echotraining=800 mentioned on this list just last week. While some things worked better then others, I would consider none
