missing symbols talloc_* (opensuse 11.4/samba 3.5.7-xxx)
I just recently upgraded to opensuse 11.4. basic smbd is running mostly fine (some name res-errors, login server missing, (can't connect to Domain service). Notably nmbd won't start due to undefined symbols: /usr/sbin/nmbd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/nmbd: undefined symbol: _talloc_realloc_array. ldd -r shows a bunch of similar undefined symbols (shown further below). my samba rpm

Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed
Alexander good afternoon. Thank you. I have spent the day learning about AppArmor: ? I've reviewed your link, found /etc/apparmor.d/ and its local/ directory. ? I ran aa-logprof?and it found the change in stat?to old-stat? that is discussed in the upgrade documentation. So I Allow (A)?that. There are no other reports. ? I followed the discussion on using yast to manage the profiles. I'm

Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed
Aki hello, thank you. Hopefully excerpts and top posting are acceptable in the mailing list?? On that assumption: Thanks for the input. I've checked out your suggestions (details below) but unfortunately no joy. I also restored my backup 10-ssl.conf. It indeed has the "<" sign with a space before the explicit paths to the files: ? ? ssl_cert =

Xen boots to blank screen
It seems like there are several messages in the archive and in various forums about this problem, but I do not see a clear course of action for how to solve it. I am relatively new to Linux, compounding my problem. I just built a new machine for the express purpose of running Xen so my girlfriend and I could experiment and learn about different Linux distros. I am running on an Intel DG35EC

install R under suse: packages dependency
Hi all I'm trying to install R 2.3.0 under Suse 10.0. As I'm using SSH to login into the SUSE server, I can't use YAST2, so I have to use rpm -i in the shell. The system tells me that I need some other packages such as xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi, blas, libgfortran.so.0(). Is there some website where I can download and install these packages? Thanks a lot! Linux Samba Server: empty shares on (Mac) clients
Hi, I run a Samba Server on openSuSE 11.4 with LDAP Authentication Backend. appears to work fine. However, only some shares work on my Mac client boxes: for instance, i can browse my home directory on the Linux box (/home/ray), whereas other shares are simply empty ("r01" below) on the mac (but they are shown as connected). Debian Buster, bind_dlz, and apparmor
Hai,  Normaly i kick in sooner but im in bed fit by flu. :-(  You have to add the bind paths to the apparmor profile, or disable apparmor in total, just dont remove it, should work also. debian wiki or ubuntu wiki shows how.  But why are you using buster, imo really not safe,  if you wany a 4.7 for stretch use my apt. When im better i can have a look into your problem more closely. greetz

upgraded DC shows IDs instead of usernames
Of course, this really isn't "the problem". Nothing wrong with apparmor or selinux. The problem is assuming a "one set of rules fits all" mentality. I actually like apparmor. But maybe if people knew how to use it to make their own policies instead of accepting (note: In this case the "accept" is through the distribution's install) the assumptions of

Samba 3.0.7 and SuSE Yast2.
Hi, I have down loaded the Samba 3.0.7 binary rpm's for SuSE 9.1 from the samba ftp. I'm trying to install it using Yast2 and don't let me. If I use the rpm commands I get an error too. Do I need a signature or something alike? If yes, where do I get it and how can I make this beauty to work.
