Trying to run DDO on Ubuntu 10.10
Hello all. I have been searching forums, reading how-tos, and googling constantly for the last week but have yet to find a solution to, or even the cause of my problem. Any help would be appreciated. Ok the problem, Everything installs and runs great. But after about 2-5 minutes of gameplay the screen freezes and goes B&W. Sound continues like the game is still running. Once it froze and

Mouse changes
I had a Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock installed and running under Wine 1.3.19 for my daughter. The mouse worked correctly. I upgraded to 1.3.20 and now the game loads and works properly, but when she tries to select a saved game, the mouse jumps around the screen uncontrollably when moved making it impossible to select the saved game. I tried setting MouseWarp to disabled, but it

DDO Launcher Failure
I'm trying to play both DDO and LoTRO using Wine 1.2. I followed the guide for installing DDO in linux as posted on the DDO forums. I followed this guide previously using Linux Mint 8 and achieved 100% success in running both programs. Now i've upgraded to LM 9 and following the same procedure, DDO is crashing. LoTRO however, is still running fine. I'm using PyLoTRO as the

DDO issues
I've run into two odd things running the latest version of Ubuntu (checking the version just tells me this is the "Natty" variant). The first came up when I tried to use the built in voice chat. Everyone else got a lot of static, and I couldn't hear a thing. Struck me as wierd, but i could still just use the text chat. The second oddity came today. I tried to login as usual,

Re: Trying to run DDO on Ubuntu 10.10
Something I always recommend, when I hear about screens turning grey for any app, is disable Ubuntu's Visual Effects. Especially if you have an older system. Those effects have caused me numerous headaches in the past, including with ddo. And if you are experiencing frequent crashes, especially ones that occur during area transitions, check to see what version of wine you are using. Likely

DDO crash
Good evening all! I got a little problem with DDO under Wine 1.2rc6; Before beginning, I must say that I use an ATI EAH4670 video card and I know that ATI is always an issue with wine. Still, my problem could possibly be easy to solve, I think, I hope... :-) The game, under wine, is just awesome, no lagging and/or graphical problems about it. I've been able to try many features and got no

Hardware texture compression support was not detected. This video card feature is required to run the game. [129] I'm not sure what to do to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Trying to run DDO on Ubuntu 10.10
Seeing the same thing here, similar specs. I took a wander through the forums and it seems that this is not a Wine only thing, there's at least a couple windows users running into the same exact problem. Dunno if this changes anything or helps at all, but it's at least a known problem

Re: DDO issues
> Tried there first. It's the latest version of wine. Tried everything I could find anywhere. Still getting the same issues. Might have to uninstall wine, re-install, and then re-install everything else. Sometimes this is the only way. By the time you've reached this point though, your nerves are usually fried from the stress of trying to just make the dang thing work that it's

Wine Ubuntu 10.04 Eve Online freeze crash whole system
[background] I had Ubuntu 10.04 loaded from a CD. CD failed to directly install, instead required that I go into the live session from the CD and then install. Loaded eve online with all those funny command codes you never see in windows like PPA:wine-somethingorother, and put in winetricks as well. used winetricks to install core fonts and d3dx9 set to opengl orm = backbuffer and all that
