oblivion: Shivering Isles won't run.
Im running Ubuntu 9.04 and the latest version of WINE.
I can get the game open, It'll load. I'll choose new game. it'll load. I can watch the intro, but then after the intro, the screen just stays black and
I'm not quite sure on how to fix that.
any advice?

Night & Magic VIII - brightened central part
Greetings,
long, long ago i played successfully mm8 on wine. Time has passed enough
to play it again. ;)
Well, there is a problem now. See the screenshot.

A great part of the image is brightened and remains so for all future
images. This effect i do only see with mm8.
For the test i am using wine 1.3.0 with a freshly created ~/.wine. No

Since wine 1.9.11 - How to get rid of the new bar below the game window?
Greetings,
beginning with wine 1.9.11 I have a new bar below the game window which
effectively steals part of the usable area. Here is a screenshot of
Gothic I.

No desktop environment here, only IceWM. My games are started with shell

I'm pretty much a newbie in linux, and I'm trying to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on Linux Mint 12.
I installed wine-1.2.3 according to the readme file (I hope).

errors with oblivion launching
to get oblivion working in wire i've followed the guide at

Problem with Gothic2

i got a problem with gothic2.
after installing i tried to start the game.

Limiting memory for MM9
Greetings,
Might & Magic IX had even problems on my old Win98SE, except if i were
running special Nvidia drivers. So i wasn't surprised that i had similar
problems on wine.
Now, with nvidia-drivers 180.42, i have made a new try on wine 1.1.17
and it seems to run fine. But there is a problem.
Switching from the game to e.g. inventory using the key i takes a very
long time, about 50

wine-0.9.47 broke Morrowind
Upgraded to wine-0.9.47 via Debian-Etch Synaptic Package Manager.
Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind no longer launches. I have the following

Problem with some games (MSVCR80.dll)
Hi everybody!
I have installed wine in my arch and I was trying to install games. I can run Steam and Warcraft 3 but when I try to run games like "Fallout 3" or "Silent Hill" i get this error:

Gothic 3 - problem with start menu
Greetings,
once there was a time when Gothic 3 ran poorly on wine but had no
difficulties with displaying the start menu. Now, with a fresh ~/.wine,
the trailers behave nicely but when it comes to the start menu, it is
not displayed.
A significant error line regarding this is:

ClientAliveInterval
Hi,
I am having some trouble with the ClientAliveInterval server setting. My
(C++) application fails to start an SSH channel to an OpensSSH server within
this time-out period if it doesn't reply correctly to this 'keep-alive'
no-op that is sent by the server. How is this no-op handled? I am using the
libssh client library, and I could find no references on how to handle this.

SFTP SSH_FXF_TEXT file open flag
Are there any plans to support the SSH_FXF_TEXT file open flag (as
specified in draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-08.txt) in OpenSSH's sftpd?
How about some of the other extensions (e.g. retrieving MD5 hashes
and UTF-8 filenames)?

Hunted - The Demons Forge error....
Hey all,
I've been testing a new release called Hunted - The Demons Forge.
I have installed, via winetricks, DirectX9 and the vcrun suite. When running the game for the first time, there was an error concerning eihter Xact or Xinput, so I installed both.
After this, the game's spash screen loaded. But shortly after, it quit. The following is the output of wine:

Fallout: NV crashes on Launcher - Arch 64
After following the instructions on the App page, I am having issues launching the launcher for Fallout New Vegas. It gives me the (splash?) image, and then crashes.
What is in the terminal:

Knights of the Old Republic 2 Texture problem
I was able to install the game without any issue, applied a nocd crack, and have attempted to run it. While the first few screens are fine, anything that involves 3d models look...well...weird. I have a screenshot:

I'm sure this has been asked before quite a few years ago and in great quantity, but I've been searching threads on various sites for a few hours now, and can't seem to find a fix.
Anywho, I have KOTOR installed, and it runs in fullscreen and all that, however, all my polygons are white, as in, there is no textures. All the text within the game is also just blue boxes. This obviously
