"Module not found"
I'm trying to run a program called GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) under Wine. Most of it runs, however, as part of its normal operation it creates a batch file, BABEL.BAT, to communicate with a GPS using GPSBabel. I've run GPSBabel by itself under wine and it works. I've run the batchfile by hand and *THAT* works (under wcmd). However, I've since discovered that when GSAK

Found the patch that breaks my app. Now what?
Okay, so I spent a lot of time locating the patch that prevents me from moving my application, GSAK, from 0.9.16 to the latest version of wine. I spent a lot of time recompiling different bisected versions of wine in order to do just that. I even submitted a bugzilla report. As it turns out, it was the patch I suspected when I first started. It seems that the dependency on the Mozilla Active X

rsync time machine backup permissions
Dear rsync users, I'm trying to copy my Time Machine Backup from my old USB hard drive to a new one. I got error messages, because rsync don't create group and other permissions. I use rsync 3.1.3. Did I use the correct parameters? Who has an idea, what mistake? Thanks! Best, André -- The bash script: #!/bin/bash source=/Volumes/LaCie\ d2\ Quadra\ v3/Backups.backupdb

USB and serial
Hello, everyone - I have an old Windows app - a ship navigation program - that needs to see GPS input on a serial port (it was written in the pre-USB days.) My laptop, however, has no serial ports - but this same program, when run on a friend's Windows box, can read the GPS info from the USB-connected GPS via the "USB-Serial Driver". This is one of the frustrating bits of this

Multiple databases + switching databases
Hello, I have an application that access two different DBMS - Firebird and Postgres. So far, that''s ok. The problem is, depending on the customer logged, a different database (Firebird) must be selected. To make the things clearer: Postgres: 1 database shared by all customers with these tables: - user - vehicle - driver Firebird: several databases with different names and identical

Wine NT Services / Serial Port
Hi! I'm currently working on a project to upgrade my car's display with NAV... Due to prohibitive high costs of oem solutions (and limited use except for nav), I decided to use a laptop, runnig that software... So, I already have MS Autoroute 2001 (european version). Against my expectations, this program runs fine with Wine release 20011004. However, the GPS Add-In doesn't work.

Lattice question.
Hi. I am trying to do histograms in lattice, and I want to get both counts and percents in the same plot. To try to be clearer --- there are 3 levels to my factor; I'd like to get a 2 x 3 array of plots where the top row consist of histograms by counts and the bottom consists of (the corresponding) histograms by percent. I tried the following: # Demo. library(lattice) set.seed(42) XX <-

Attach a GPS in preboot mode
Hello everyone and best wishes for 2023 :) I have an old *Garmin Drive Smart 50 GPS* and I want to be able to attach it when it is in preboot mode to a VM hosted by a *Debian 11 host*. From what I understand, the preboot mode allows us to flash a firmware before the GPS actually starts (used among other things when the GPS is soft bricked). When I connect the GPS to the host it gives:

2.2.3a connection failure from XP to 10.3.4
Hello from a neophyte! Is there a diagnostic programme which can be run to determine if there are any faults in Samba 2.2.3a? I cannot connect from Win XP to my rev/b iMac (suddenly, maybe 'upgrade' to 10.3.4 had some effect) and the smb crashlog (shown below) has a pile of stuff which is incomprehensible to me. Secondly, how does one upgrade to another version of Samba and is this

latitude longitude data
Dear R-helpers, I get GPS readings with bug counts (bugs meaning insects in this case) made along rows in crop fields and use these to make maps of bug distribution. The GPS readings are not quite accurate enough for my purpose, so since I know what row each reading is made in, I adjust the latitudinal coordinate using: grd<-lm(lat~lon+Row,data)

Re: Can Garmin's (MapSource) USB map-card reader be used in Wine?
Hello, I tried to install Mapsource 6 in Wine (20050211.2) on MDK LE2005 but it didn't install... The same with GIDroute which installed but didn't want to be launched. I will give it a try on MDV 2006 but I don't expect a miracle. And the pseudo map applications for Linux are not really what we can consider as useful and easy to handle with... ntp time server
Currently, my time server is a Sun v240 with a 32-pci gps card (with a proprietary Solaris driver) attached to our gps receiver via an sma cable up to the roof of my building. As I'm migrating almost all of our Solaris servers and services over to CentOS, I'd like to know what other people are using for time server hardware. Any suggestions? -- Andy Harrison public key: 0x67518262
