Printing/Creating PDF Files
Hi, This is my first post here. I'm trying to create PDF files from other applications running in Wine 0.9.56. I've installed Autosketch Release 5 and Adobe Acrobat Writer V4.0 in Wine (in that order). Each of these programs work well in Wine by themselves, but I can't figure out how to get Autosketch to use Adobe Writer to create PDF files.

OT: permission denied when opening PDF docs with Acrobat Reader X potected mode
Hi, this might be off topic because it's not a samba problem, but might be interesting for others too. We are running an older samba 3.0.24 working as domain controller (no DFS features). When opening a .pdf file with the Acrobat Reader X from a WinXP SP3 client (maschine is member of the domain) the Acrobat Reader X shows a "permission denied". We see the following in the samba

Acessing pdf help files (PR#13419)
Full_Name: Marc Thibault Version: 2.8.1 OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 Submission from: (NULL) (216.104.125.106) I had Adobe Acrobat 5 and Adobe Reader 9 installed. The .pdf "open" association is to Reader. When I selected "Help | Manuals(in pdf) | An Introduction to R", it brought up the file in Acrobat instead of Reader. After making sure the default associations were correctly

Cannot print PDF-Files...
Hi, I have a network with a Server running 3.0.14 (Debian sarge), which is doing quite fine as a PDC and as a printer server (using cups). Almost. Printing is working, I can print Windows test pages, I can print from several applications, including MS office. But I cannot print over the network from Acrobat Reader, not at all. If a network printer is selected and used, than _nothing_ happens,

open 2nd pdf on dfs share with Acrobat Reader not possible
Hello everybody, after updating samba from Version 4.9.1 to 4.10.4 (Centos 7) opening a PDF Document in Acrobat Reader with a double click, when the document resides on a dfs share, is only possible for the 1st document. I know, this is not not a samba bug, because windows 2019 Server behaves the same, i just want to share my findings.

full-fledge PDF editor for Linux
Hi all, Does anybody know of an editor that can do on Linux what Acrobat / Acrobat Pro can do on Mac/Windows? I have tried to use the PDF Import extension to the Open Office which appears barely functional - at least it is so slow as to be almost impractical. I have also tried pdfedit under Linux which seems to work fine but seems to have rather limited functionality. For instance, the capability

wrong colours when printing from Windows
I have a strange issue with Brother MFC-5440CN printer. When I print from Linux/CUPS, it prints colours fine. When I print from Windows, using Windows drivers (without Samba), it also prints fine. When I print from Windows through Samba/CUPS (drivers added using cupsaddsmb...), it gives me wrong colours: expected | result -------------------- yellow | blue blue | red red | green

Bug in PDF device when using transparent graphics
Hello, I think I found a bug when creating graphics on a PDF device using transparency. I'm using ggplots2 like this: comp <- ggplot(data, aes(x=Problemsize, y=Fitness)) + geom_smooth(fill=alpha("blue", 0.2), aes(colour=factor(Clustersize)), size=2) Which gives me a curve for each "Clustersize" with a transparent blue "cloud" around it, indication

cups drivers for printing pdf and tif
List, I updated a gateway/router computer with Centos 5.6 and lost the ability to print pdf and tif files with the command "lp -d printer img.tif" This new unit replaced a Fedora 5 system that had been working well, and is still able to print pdf and tif files withing the same network. I have other Centos 5.6 gateway's at different facilities that print the pdf and tif files

correlation range estimates with nlme::gls
I'm trying to do a simple (?) analysis of a 1D spatial data set, allowing for spatial autocorrelation. (Actually, I'm comparing expected vs. observed for a spatial model of a 1D spatial data set.) I'm using models like gls(obs~exp, correlation=corExp(form=~pos),data=data) or gls(obs~exp, correlation=corLin(form=~pos),data=data) This form is supposed to fit a linear model of

Printing with CUPS and PDF
Trying to get one Samba server to serve several printers through CUPS and host a virtual PDF "printer" at the same time. I've gotten them working separately, but not together, and I think I know why. In the smb.conf man page under "print command": "With printing = cups, and if SAMBA is compiled against libcups, any manually set print command will be ignored."

Obscure bug....?
Dear all, I've been struggling for days now with a piece of code that I have posted here before, that has a really obscure bug. I think I may have isolated it, but I have no idea what it is.... It might also be a bug in R I guess, as it seems that one or several of list elements are not passed when a function is called, but quite rarely. I have been hacking rather wildly on the histogram

PDF printing with printing = CUPS
Hi everyone. I've been looking into the subject of "printing" to PDF with Samba in the last couple of days. Sorry to say that I wasted some time trying to figure out why the [print-pdf generator] in smb.conf didn't work. As always reading every comment carefully will pay off in terms of time wasted! After I realized that with printing = cups in smb.conf samba ignores any

pdf, pairs and subfloats
Hi there! I have found a trange problem with getting pairs()-plots to show properly in latex \subfloat environments. If i generate images of these plots with pdf() and include them in subfloats, they will either show up in grayscale, or sometimes the datapoints of the pairplots are missing. Mind you, the PDFs themselves are properly colored and look perfectly fine, both as pdf-image in acrobat

Windows XP SP2 slow printing solution
Hello all, I spent a couple of days figuring this out, and I found some related posts without solutions, so I figured I would sent this to the list. We run a small local network here with a mixed bag of Windows XP / 2000 / Linux clients. We have been using Samba to allow access to a set of shared printers using a linux server. We also have a separate linux server that handles our file serving
