Network Scanning
At work we have a Canon photocopier, scanner printer connected to the network (model IR 2018) After jumping through some convoluted hoops i was able to get my hands on a version of the linux printer driver that works (UFR II driver for linux only available on the canon.de website).. so now i'm trying to scan. Just to pre-emt some posts, this is not connected to a USB port in any way..

TWAIN scanners query
I see there's a TWAIN package for Wine, which is good news because I'm trying to get a Minolta Dimage ScanDual slide scanner to work, BUT I can't find any references to 'scanner', 'TWAIN', let alone 'Minolta' or 'Scan Dual' in the apps DB. Where might I find a list of TWAIN apps that are known to run under Wine and/or the status of Wine's TWAIN

Recognising an unrecognisable scanner
I have to figure out how to use a scanner that sane doesn't officially recognise. Wine installed the twain software with no problems, and the apps come up just fine. The scanner drivers should be installed in wine, but I'm having some serious issues getting linux to recognise that there's a device connected. Is there any way to tell wine to see the device? If not, how would I pass

Wayne and twin
Hi, I haven't seen recent information on wine and twain. I already sent a similar mail to wine-users and, in a second step to wine-devel, but without any information back until now. May be the trick "Wine and twain" to "Wayne and twin" will give me more chance to be listen. Or may be my question is really stupid? >From a recent mail that I got, the problem is of

Wine and twain
Hi, I haven't seen recent information on wine and twain. I am trying to test a Finereader Office (version 5) with an USB scanner. Everything seems working. But I get scanner not ready when searching for scanner. Sane, gimp or whatever are working well with my scanner. Doing WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine finereader.exe I get: ... trace:loaddll:load_dll Loaded module L"C:\\program files\\abbyy

Scanning with Wine
I am trying to scan to Foxit Phantom with Wine. I'm able to install the program do everything else, but when I tell the program to "create PDF from scanner" nothing happens. I'm using a Canon MX850 that works fine in sane. I've included the output of export WINEDEBUG="+twain,+loaddll" trace:loaddll:load_builtin_dll Loaded

Simple-Scan
Hi, I just upgraded from 6.4 to 6.5. In 6.4 I had a scanner program "simple-scan". I can't seem to get it for 6.5. I tried the elrepo and forge repositories but they are not available there. I tried to rebuild it from source but that didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. FYI: My Fujitsu scanner is not TWAIN compliant but it works with

New to wine
Hi, new to Wine and I have a few questions. First off, can you get programs which use TWAIN to run in WINE and will it support those devices which use TWAIN such as a non linux suppported scanner? (Xerox Documate 510) Which is the best linux distro for running wine? Does it matter? I'm currently using the latest mandriva. I've had issues. I tried to run the regedit and it tried to open

Wine and USB scanner access ?
Hi, I'm using latest Wine (20050310) with Debian sid (kernel 2.6.11). I own an USB 1.1 scanner : Agfa SnapScan 1212U. I successfully installed ScanWise software provided by the vendor (2.0.0.9 version) but when I launch it, it behaves as if the scanner's light wasn't on, or it was unplugged : it asks for me to connect the scanner. Below is the debugging info. I also tried to

Samsung MFC Printer Software
One of the biggest things lacking in linux is proper scanning support. The Samsung CLX-3170 is an amazing little printer. It's network based and even comes in a wireless version. It uses up toner more than most but it's overall functionality makes up for it. With Samsung's "Smarthru 4" software I was hopeful it was possible to install over Wine and have a fully functional

Terminal Output
Hello: I attempted to install Digitech's Paperflow on Ubuntu 7.10. The version I attempted to install is 7.31. Paperflow is industrial grade scanning software. It can use both twain and isis drivers to interact with any scanner. It has extensive image enhancement features. I don't want any help with installing this application. I figure the output will help in the development

Name resolution error help needed
Hello, I've checked the FAQ and followed steps I can find there. I made sure my /etc/hosts is correct as in the FAQ. I tried complete uninstall/reinstall of Wine and data. Iceweasel and all other normal linux programs work fine to resolve addresses. WoW under Wine works fine. Fresh install of Firefox for Windows only works under Wine if I use a IP address instead of a hostname, so Wine

Scanner missing again
A while back I posted about my new HP J3600 scan/fax/copy/print-er and how it was visible to the root but not me as an ordinary user. I had no trouble configuring it as a printer, but the scanner was invisible to xsane until I added my user id to the lp group. Now it's gone again, except that it is visible as a usb device to me as a normal user, but xsane can't seem to find it any more.

USB scanner setup: questions, problems
Hi, I have a small home LAN consisting of four PC's: one old Pentium III box acting as gateway / connection handler / printer server / file server / scanner server, and then one desktop and two laptops. I recently migrated this LAN from Slackware 10.2 to CentOS 4.3, and everything runs rather fine. One thing I have some trouble setting up is my Canon Perfection USB scanner for network use,
