Problems with Wine on Debian
Hello all, I am fairly new to Linux, so I hope that the following problem is not just me being ... new to Linux. I have been trying to install Wine on Debian (Etch 4.09 I think it is called). I first tried to use the apt-get install Wine command followed by the winecfg (creating the .wine folder), but when I tried to run the notepad.exe (i.e. with the command wine

RC1 & RC3 break PageMaker
PageMaker was running OK (except duplex printing wrong) on 0.9 wines. With RC1 & RC3 (didn't try RC2) PageMaker starts to open, cycles my scanner (???), and quits. I went back to 0.9.61-1 all is well again. Any thoughts? I did a reinstall of PM, but it had no effect.

Debian repos and apt key
http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny helpfully points out that lamaresh.net and not wine.budgetdedicated.com should be used as the source for wine packages for Debian. However, there are some problems. First the page provides less useful information than is provided by http://www.winehq.org/download/deb, which still exists and unhelpfully recommends wine.budgetdedicated.com. The other problem

Cannot log into Steam
Hi, I just wanted to try Steam using wine and it doesn't work. I get to the login prompt and it tells me to enter my username and password. I do that but Steam tells me that it failed to login because the account could not be found or the username/password combination is wrong. However I can actually login on Windows and on the Steam website so the username and password are definitely right.

Problems running Braid with Gecko
Hi all. First time posting here. I first did a search around the forums, but didn't find something similar to my problem. I'm trying to run Braid full version on openSUSe using Wine and Gecko (Doors has been shutdown since a while, what a shame... And Gecko is the default configurator Suse installs). Firstly Wine crashed with an error message due to an "unexpected error", then I

Run 32 bit apps on Wine x64?
Hi. I installed Wine and tried to run Briad game on a laptop with openSUSE 11.3 x64. It throws me the message: Trying to load PE image for unsupported architecture (AMD-64) err:seh:raise_exception Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception. Which means Wine x64 is not able to run 32 bit apps, and I imagined it. I installed Wine through Yast, selecting the packages

Trouble installing packages with Winetricks
Hi all. I know I posted a similar topic before, but I think it's necessary to re-formulate the problem since it has taken a different wider focus. I'm trying to make some of my Windows apps to work on Linux which used to work quite well with Wine back when I had openSUSE 11.1 last year. Right now I'm focusing in one called DBabble. Back in 11.1 I used Wine Doors to download libraries

Installing Wine for Debian Squeeze
Hi, I tried to install Wine following this instruction: http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny, method 1. These instructions are in German. This gives me access to Wine 1.1.42 in 32-bit. According to the WineHQ homepage, 1.2 is the last stable. My system is 64-bit. I should be able to select between 1.2 and 1.3. So my guess is that this instruction is outdated, that that repository is not

[PATCH v2] python: Fix UnicodeError in inspect_list_applications2() (RHBZ#1684004)
The python3 bindings create unicode objects from application strings on the guest (i.e. installed rpm, deb packages). It is documented that rpm package fields such as description should be utf8 encoded - however in some cases they are not a valid unicode string, on SLES11 SP4 the following packages fail to be converted to unicode using guestfs_int_py_fromstring() (which invokes
