wine and jack => segfault?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I am new to this list and just wanted to ask a question regarding Wine and JACK: I'm running JACK as my sound daemon and today I installed Wine (from the APT-Repository). I setup my .wine directory with the help of winetools. So far everything works fine, except sound output (tested with wmplayer and a simple wav file). So I selected

CentOS for musicians?
Hello, still searching but didn't find very precise answers yet, is there a computer-aided musical creation -oriented flavor of CentOS (like the Ubuntu Studio)? Or would it be about gathering stuff from different repos and setting up everything by hand? A repository that would provide low-latency kernel (realtime one?): I've found the CentOS-RT from the CERN + (1)). Specific tools (from

Wine lags A LOT when programs are started—and getting worse
Hi, I'm a pretty new Linux (Ubuntu) user, only a few weeks, and I few days ago I started having troubles with Wine. I posted this over at the Ubuntu Forums but haven't gotten a reply yet, so I thought I'd try here as well. I'll just quote my posts. Wine1.4-rc5 breaks (jack)audio setup
Hi there, since upgrading to wine1.4-rc-5, anytime that i either A). Launch winecfg/audio-tab or B). Launch any wine app, Wine tries to open an ALSA device and crashes Jackd. ~ the only exception would be Festige/FST which will launch my wineVST instruments and work as expected. On my system, Jackd is the default Sound server (ie: i t runs ALL of the time, this also includes using the

Old Macromedia app shows black regions of anim
Hi, I've got my hands on a collection of old (the software on them is copyrighted in 1998-2000) cd's with a suite of games for kids called Aprendilandia. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work (I'll try to find a Win-comp around to see if it works under real windows, but in the meantime I'm asking for help here. The problem is that animation doesn't work (an image can move

JACK / WaveInGetPosition: This function is not supported.
Hello, I'm running wine-1.1.2 on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with JACKD 0.109.2. I'm trying to run TPP, a small application that makes it possible to run Winamp DSP plugins without using Winamp. It takes the input from one sound device, does some processing on it and outputs it to another sound device. When i try to run this in Wine (with JACK), i get a popup that says: WaveInGetPosition: This

No Jack Realtime w/ Wine, Kontakt 4
Ubuntu 10.04. Wine 1.2 I'm running Native Instruments Kontakt 4 under Wine. It runs fine except for occasional stutters, so I wanted to try enabling Realtime in Jack, but I have no luck with this. (I have made recommended edits to the limits.conf file, though I've read that this is no longer necessary(?): @audio - rtprio 100, @audio - memlock 250000) When I start up Kontakt, I see

Rosetta Stone
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and WINE 1.2. WineHQ APPDB states that Rosetta Stone is not installable. I have installed it, so the information there is not correct/complete. When I installed, it ran perfectly. I created an ISO of the install disc and the first lesson. I then loop mounted each of them in turn for them to run and assigned each of them a windows directory, configuring them as CD-ROM.

MCJIT with LLVM >= 5.0 on Windows 64
Hello, I am using the Faust language which leverages LLVM's MCJIT for code generation (http://faust.grame.fr/). There are some problems[1] when generating code and executing it afterwards on Windows with a MSVC "host" (that is, LLVM itself and the software it is used in are built with MSVC). It works fine when building LLVM / Faust with Mingw. On MSVC the code is generated with

Problem with WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM sound files
Hi all, I recently managed to install "multimedia German dictionary", which I get with the local newspaper , under wine and it works OK. The problem it is when I try to use the most important feature for me - the pronunciation. When I try to listen to any word , no sound is played and wine outputs the following to the console: wodOpen unimplemented format: WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM I rewieved
