Second, the iPad doesn't have an x86 CPU in it. It has an ARM CPU in it.
Wine barely even supports ARM natively. It certainly doesn't support
running x86 programs--like World of Warcraft--on ARM hardware. Long

OT: R for iPhone/iPad OS?
No, seriously: I've had more than one person at work wonder what math
toolset could be loaded onto iOS. So, before Matlab, FreeMat,
Mathematia, SciLab, Octave, or numpy (:-) ) produces a version for iPad,
any chance someone is working on R for iPad?

XiphQT with Thusnelda?
I noticed that the latest release of XiphQT predates the release of Theora 1.1.
What's the situation with a release of XiphQT with the Theora 1.1 encoder in it? Is such a release planned?
(With all this iPad vs. Open Video discussion going on, it would be so much easier to advocate Theora if Mac-using content creators could simply install a pre-built binary and get an up-to-date Theora

R on an iPad
Dear R People:
Is it possible to run R on an iPad, please?
For some reason, I'm thinking that you can't have Fortran, C, etc., so
you can't do it.
But I thought I would check anyway.
Thanks,
Erin

compiling for the ipad
Hi
I have been assigned the task of porting the ARM code generator to the
ipad.
I would like to know if there are any available documents about the
instruction set/code format of the A64 chip of Apple.
Also, if at all possible, documents that describe executable formats,
etc are welcome.
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance.

Secure VNC access from iPad
Dear Gurus
If any of you have been successful in using an iPad as a VNC client
with SSH tunnelling, I'd love to know how it's done. I have tried
using the iSSH application, but without success.
I know that the server is accessible from a Windows client (using
TigerVNC), via an SSH tunnel, so the server is properly configured.
If you have a working example, please let me know what

R on the iPhone/iPad? Not so much....a GPL violation
Hi all,
There have been posts in the past about R being made available for the iPhone and perhaps more logically now, on the iPad. My recollection is that the hurdle discussed in the past was primarily a lack of access to a CLI on the iPhone's variant of OSX, compelling the development of a GUI interface for R specifically for these devices. R itself, can be successfully compiled with the

iPhone or iPad support
Hello,
I'm asking for a hint.
Here is my problem:
I have some web servers (LAMP) I want to administer from main office, home (dynamic IP) , iPad and Laptop with 3G connection (roadwarrior).
I was thinking of creating a VPN between servers , in this way I could connect securely and easily to server ports (es. Mysql ) without opening the firewall.
I am starting to play with Tinc because

No room for labels in barplot
All,
I have:

iPad question
Hi,
I am facing problem when using CELT for iPad. I wonder if someone have
experience with that, or someone have idea why it happened.
I was able to compile libCelt (and lib Ogg) for iPad (iOS 4.2) and for iPad
Simulator
I added those libraries to my application, and it was successfully compiled

but once the application start it immediately crash (even if I am not using

writing tools that use light-markup
let's talk about writing tools that use markdown
(or more broadly, another form of light-markup)...
to begin with, there is the markdown "dingus"...
from a demo perspective, it has been _fantastic_.
it has provided interested observers a quick idea
about the simplicity and the power of markdown.
as a writing tool, it's a bit clunky; it will work, yes,
but i'd doubt many
