I am planning on changing/upgrading one of my systems to Centos 6.x with a solid state system drive and conventional 'data' drives. Any suggestions for a good simple tool, or way to give ongoing monitoring of writes to files on what will become the system drive. I prefer to run games that require CDs from image files, since it is faster and protects the life of my CDs. In windows, I would just mount the disc image and I could then play. But using Wine and Ubuntu, it appears to work differently. When installing a Windows CD using WINE under Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, how should I go about mounting a disc image so it is seen by games running under WINE as a CD?

If I needed to remove a disc from a software mirror for a quick backup before a test, how can I remove it cleanly so that it has a good copy of the OS on it? Hi! First of all, WINE is great! There is only one little inconvenience for me: I am using WINE 1.2 under Ubuntu 11.10. It automatically mounts CDs and DVDs at /media/(disc name). So whenever I insert a new disc, I have to change the configuration of WINE which is a bit annoying. I could not find any help via Google. On ubuntuforum.org I was told to point WINE to the device itself (/dev/sr0)
