Compiling wine: no sound system, etc.
Hello all...
I'm trying to compile wine 1.3.21 on my Linux Mint Debian Edition machine, because I'm tired of the antique version available from the repositories. Unfortunately, ./configure always ends with a bunch of WARNINGs and I'm not sure what to do about them. Here's the list it gives me:
Code:

Compiling Samba with LDAP support - please help
I tried to compile various version (2.5, 2.6pre1, 3.0alpha17, HEAD,...)
of Samba with LDAP support ('configure --with-ldapsam'). During
configuration and 'make' process all seams fine, but after I installed
('make install') and ran, Samba complains something similar to "Unknown
option: ldap server" and some other similar error messages. It seams that

Compiling wine in Ubuntu Oneiric
Hello,
I'm having trouble compiling wine 1.3.31 under the latest Ubuntu, 64 bit multiarch, etc. What basically happens is that the compile and make steps go just fine, but any sound that the newly built wine makes, doesn't use PulseAudio, it takes over the sound device.
The only thing I've got to go on is a warning when doing ./configure that tells me that I'm missing the 32 bit

Samba-LDAP TLS problems with inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages
Dear Torsten, dear samba list reader
Three days ago I switched our domain from a NT 4 domaincontroller to
Samba-OpenLDAP, controlled by a Debian Sarge system. I installed the
following inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages (I know these are not
supported, but TLS with OpenSSL is essential to us...):
Package: slapd
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1
Package: libldap2.2
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1

3.0 with LDAP backend using SSL/TLS and OpenLDAP 2.1.22-1
Preamble: I was reading in the OpenLDAP faq-o-matic that as of 2.1, LDAP
clients (or specifically the LDAP client libraries) need to know how to
find the certificate when connecting via SSL or TLS.
As of 3.0, I've been getting a Samba internal error when setting ldap ssl
= start tls in the smb.conf file. testparm checks out ok (My samba server
is configured as a Role_Domain_PDC server). This

Recommended Packages document
Fresh install of Debian Etch. Before I install wine (from winehq), I'd like
to double check something about the following document. I've only included
the portion refering to Debian.
http://wiki.winehq.org/Recommended_Packages
The document was last edited 2007-10-07 15:26:02.
My question is about the last comment about freeglut3-dev. Still required or
not, would there be any problems if I

Lenny repository disappeared
Hi,
I tried to add the Debian Lenny repository for Wine to my apt sources, so I could enjoy a newer release of wine than the 1.0.x version Debian offers. However, when I tried to update repositories, I got a 404, and, upon investigating, realised that there is no Lenny distribution whatsoever on the Wine apt server! (It is, however, mentioned in the documentation for installing Debian/Ubuntu

Question regarding dependencies for Wine 1.1.1
Hi,
I am new to Wine and somewhat to Linux.
I am running DreamLinux (DL) which to the best of my knowledge is based on Debian.
Currently I have Wine 1.0.0 installed with no Windows application installed on it yet. I would like to install M$ Office 2007 and reading the news on the WineHQ homepage it said that Wine 1.1.1 was released with fixes to M$ Office 2007, so I figured I should upgrade

Wine 64 bit?
Hi
installed Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and wonder, if I should bother to install Wine 64bit?
Default download / tools/wineinstall says it needs 32 bit development files.
Hmm so I need a flag for 64bit compiling?
Does 64bit Wine run also any 32bit Windows apps?
Thanks

Samba segment faulting - unknown cause
Hello,
Recently our Samba server has started segment faulting. It happens occasionally, but is often enough to cause disruption.
People notice thier network drives freeze, I am unsure of the cause of the segment fault, and have no experience debugging backtraces.
Can anoyone lend a hand?
We are running Samba as a primary domain controller with an Openldap backend on another server, both on

How can I install Wine on a computer without internet access
Hi,
Couldn't find the answer searching the forum.
I would like install Wine on a system that has Ubuntu 9.10 but NO access to the Internet.
I have another system with Ubuntu 8.04 which can access Internet, but the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/download/deb
seem to imply that it would install the Wine on my 8.04 machine.
Is there any binary I could download that I could put on a

Wine-1.3.11 will not compile for me

Dear All,
I've been using Wine happily on my Linux server for quite some years now. Even wine-1.3.9 has compiled without any issues whatsoever. But ever since yesterday, when I tried to compile the latest version 1.3.11 I'm stuck and don't know how to help myself. Please give me some ideas.
As usual, I started compiling wine by
