User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
After a user changes their password (CTRL-ALT-DEL) in our Samba 4 domain (4.1.12) they lose access to any stored passwords on their Windows PC. I've set the log level in smb.conf to 4 and enabled the GPO to record DPAPI log entries in Windows to get the below log data. My reading of the two is that the Windows PC believes it is failing to reset the access to its DPAPI store (where the saved

Intermittent authentication error
Hello, I have an intermittent authentication error between a Windows 2003 Server and AIX 6.1 TL4 Samba 2.2.7. I have the Samba server passing auth details to an active directory server. The account exists on AIX but is locked and there is no smbpasswd entry (this is how I setup all my samba shares). On the Windows server a mapping has been created to mount this path on restart. In most cases

[LLVMdev] Improving Garbage Collection
For the past few years, my group in Intel Labs has been working on a project similar to LLVM and C--, and perhaps our experience in handling roots and stack walking could be useful in deciding how LLVM should evolve in the GC area. Our project is called Pillar (you can see our paper "Pillar: A Parallel Implementation Language" in Languages and Compilers for Parallel Computing 2008 for a

Dream Ledger
Hello Fellow Campers, I''m feeling crazy tonight and thought I''d go ahead and announce my new little project riding on the Camping framework: Dream Ledger (http://www.dreamledger.com). The app was written to scratch a personal itch, which is the simple fact that I wanted an easy way to record my nightly dreams and sleep experiences. Think about it as ''dream

Dream of a wiki GUI for R
Dear R fans ( and wiki fans), I am just writing a draft to introduce confidence intervals of various "effect sizes" to my students. Surely, I'll recommend the package MBESS in R. Currently, it means I have to recommend R's interface at first. As a statistics teacher in a dept of psychology, I often have to reply why not to teach SPSS. Psychologists and their students hate to

Elephant's Dream Ogg Theora+Vorbis file?
Has anyone made an Ogg Theora+Vorbis copy of the movie Elephant's Dream from the full resolution frames and FLAC audio files hosted by Xiph (as opposed to transcoded from some other version)? If so, where could I download a copy? I don't have the storage or CPU speed to do that job in a reasonable amount of time, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Successful integration using Winbind - not a dream
Good Morning to All, I have a Red Hat 7.3 box with Samba 2.2.5 successfully integrated with a Windows 2000 domain. I am using a Win2K Domain Controller to hold all of the user accounts. I use WebMin 1.0 for the administration of my Linux box, and am able to pull up domain user accounts when putting permissions on files on the RH machine. I used a combination of resources to do this.

Best Distro for my dream Xen setup
My requirements: A distro that''s relatively modern (e.g. supports kvm and xen, but I guess as long as kvm runs on any of the guests I should be OK too). I plan to run Linux, Windows2k (xfer my old desktop), WindowsXP, and probably Solaris 10. I also need to xfer my other old Linux system Redhat 7.0 (2.2.16-22), so that I could eventually migrate all data and services off it. I was

RE: Text Rotation (was: Take care with codes()!)
I've just uploaded gregmisc_0.8.2.tar.gz to CRAN. It should show up in the package repository in a day or two. This version of the gregmisc package provides an enhanced 'balloonplot' function with 'rowsrt', 'colsrt' arguments to control rotation of the labels, and 'rowmar', 'colmar' to control the amount of space reserved for the labels. Here's

For or Against
As a librarian and a father, I have both a professional and a parental interest in democracy and access to information. In addition to democracy, libraries and education are related to other concerns. For example, our physical and mental health is critical to our ability to learn and to process information fully. Suppose a worldwide referendum was held on a proposal for single-payer global

Range of circular data
I want to get the minimum arc (in degrees) needed to include a set of compass directions. I would like to use the range.circular() function of the package circular, because that package understands a compass-type of angle convention, but it gives results I don't understand. Howver, I can get the correct answer in the example below, 90 degrees, using the CircStats package. How can I make the
