Wine on Mint9 vs Ubuntu10.04
Using Wine 1.1.42: On Ubuntu10.04, Word 2000 works fine. But on Mint9, Word 2000 doesn't work. After being open for a few seconds, it doesn't respond, then gives error: "Must close" I'm assuming the problem is with Mint9, since Wine 1.1.42 works so well for me in Ubuntu10.04. Just wondering if others have had problems with Wine 1.1.42 on Mint9?

Hello--As a noob to both Linux (Ubuntu) and Wine, I'd like to request advice: After installing Ubuntu 10.04 fr/LiveCD, I installed Wine 1.1.42, included w/10.04. Wine now appears on the Ubuntu Applications menu, so it appears I'm ready to start. I need to use Office 2000, for which I have an original CD w/Product key. wine cannot find L "c:/windows/system32/plugplay.exe
I'm running Wine1.2.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid). In my file manager, I can get to the /.wine/drive_c folder, so I know it exists in my file system. However, when I open the Wine Configuration window (either via apps/wine/configuration or via terminal (winecfg), on the Drives tab it shows C: ../drive_c D: /media UDISK (and a few other drives). However, the C drive

Problem with Office2000/Windows Installer
I've sent a couple of messages about this to both of these lists, but I've never gotten it working. :-( I've got details, so I'll post to both lists, and see if anybody can, or has, made this work. I've got a share for Office 2000, with 2 sub directories under it, one for disk one, one for disk 2. When I try to run setup from a UNC (\\blofeld\office2000\disk1\setup), I get

Office2000/Win2000 access to samba share problem
Hello all - I've worked through several google (as well as a searchable samba mailing list) searches, but haven't found a direct answer to my problem. Some things seem similar, but not enough for me to quickly resolve my problem. Overview: Accessing any Office2000 file from a samba-directory results in explorer (and whatever Office program was active) to hang. This only seems to be a

Installation of IE6 and Office2000 with wine 0.9.12
Hi, I used some time ago the winetools package to configure wine older than 0.9.10 with IE6 and Office 2000. Updates of wine up to 0.9.10 where also succesful, so that I was able to continue the usage of MS Office2000. But since the Desktop changes in wine 0.9.11, 0.9.12 the old installation does no more work. ## My experiements to install IE6 and Office 2000 without winetools are not yet

Win2000 Compatibility
I am evaluating vmware 2.0.4 Build 1142 on FreeBSD 4.4-PRERELEASE. So far, it's working wonderfully well. However, I would like to see if wine has improved it's support of W2K. In the past, I had tried to use office2000 but was unsuccessful. I was told that I should have a win98 partitiion with office2000 installed on that in order to have wine run it effectively. This was three months

Using Office2000 with Samba (latest version)
I need your help. I've searched the Internet and did a lot of experimenting but I cannot get Office 2000 to work with Linux 7.3 and the latest-version of Samba. I had no problem with Office97 and other applications. I used the setup /a on a win2000 client to decompress the files so I could run setup and install the applications on the Samba share. The files will install onto the Samba

I also tried Wine1.3 Beta, with similar results. Is there any work-around for this? Thank you, krt

IIS, ASP, and File Change Notification
I'm running IIS5 on windows 2000 with the root web directory mapped to a samba directory. Everything works great except for IIS's asp caching. Unless I explicitly disable asp script file caching, IIS refuses to invalidate cached asp files without a reboot. Research, including the following MS kb entry, indicates that the problem is that IIS is not getting the file change

How to get Word 2000 to work?
Hello, I've been trying to get any office2000 app to work, but I keep getting the error message "Office 2000 must be installed to run". Is there any way I can make Word2000 wined believe that Office 2000 is installed? I have two partitions, and Office 2000 is on the Windows partition and working fine. What is missing is probably the Software/Microsoft Office keys from a normal
