hardware donation (GeForce 6600 & GTS250)
hello nouveau devs! I have two nvidia cards lying around that are no longer in use: * Nvidia GeForce GTS250 E-Green, 512MB GDDR3 (NV92/G92 - NV50 family) * Nvidia GeForce 6600, 256MB (NV43 - NV40 family) They both are already well supported by the nouveau driver as far as I can tell. But if any dev can make use of them, please let me know, I would gladly donate them. Patrick

Database design, working but looking for better ways
Rails 3.1.3 Hi. I have designed the database used for my travel plan application. You should be able to look at the diagram in the link below, hopefully. https://cacoo.com/diagrams/biDSyxh8yzk2kIeg ("belongs_to" is omitted since it''s obvious) Basically, the application can list the destinations from a choice of the departure. Not mention that the departure_id (integer) and

Re: Multiple WoW/Wine issues, lack of internet and opengl
ArchCub wrote: > I use KDE, not GNOME, but I will try re-installing them from the console with X up ;} Unfortunately that still doesn't solve my internet issue :{ I still won't be able to play without it. That is the problem that is really baffling me! I tried this as well and it worked out just fine for me.

I need an idea !
Hello here, I need to find an idea to solve a problem I manage Events which are of kind :arrival or :departure At first the two kind of events was unrelated but my client want to see the :departure belonging to the :arrival and vice versa. I''m searching for a solution to implement this ''link''. I''ve thought about an integer column containing an uniq id for

TF2 random quit
Hello all. I'm having a spot of trouble with Team Fortress 2 under WINE. You see, the game appears to randomly stop working and blank out. Here are my system specs: Motherboard: MSI 790GX-G65 RAM: 4GB DDR3 CPU: AMD Phenom II Video Card:PNY/Nvidia GTS250 Performance Edition After the screen blacks out, I am returned to my desktop, with the resolution still at TF2's max. (Not as big as

deleting (empty) directories
I am evaluating rsync for the mirroring of a website and associated database. To exercise it and establish the correct run string I need I am running tests LOCALLY between two test directories. I have a /scratch/temp/Departure and a /scratch/temp/Arrival trees. I apply changes to the Departure tree, run rsync, and do a diff -r. Now I delete a file in Departure rm Departure/Quattro/uno.file

multiple comparisons with non homogeneus variances
This is a mixed question, between theory and practice. I have a dataset with a continous variable grouped by a 33 levels factor. After having log-tranformed my original data I can assume the normality of my data but I have two strong departures from the basic assumptions for anova and t tests: *unbalanced data* (some groups contain ten samples, others hundreds) and *non homogenity of variances*

Problems with normality req. for ANOVA
I am conducting an experiment with four independent variables each of which has three or more factor levels. The sample size is quite large i.e. several thousand. The dependent variable data does not pass a normality test but "visually" looks close to normal so is there a way to compute the affect this would have on the p-value for ANOVA or is there a way to perform an nonparametric test

Dummy variables or factors?
Dear R-people, I am analyzing epidemiological data using GLMM using the lmer package. I usually explore the assumption of linearity of continuous variables in the logit of the outcome by creating 4 categories of the variable, performing a bivariate logistic regression, and then plotting the coefficients of each category against their mid points. That gives me a pretty good idea about the

Why is transform="km" the default for cox.zph?
To enhance my understanding, and that of my students, I have a question about cox.zph in the survival package. If I have correctly gleaned the high-level point from the 1994 Biometrika paper of Grambsch and Therneau, it looks to me like cox.zph provides a mechanism to test for a simple trend in plots of a function of time, g(t) versus the scaled schoenfeld residuals and it also provides some

Fligner-Killeen test on binary data
Hello, I investigate survival until the following year (0,1) and I wish to test if the variance in survival for two or more groups are significantly different from each other. I read that the Fligner-Killeen test is a non-parametric test which is very robust against departures from normality but is it correct (valuable technique for publication) to use it on binary data? In other

noob requesting help
I'm fairly new to R and still learning how to use it. I could really use some help with the following problem. I have a huge .csv file containing thousands of measurements on 34 different birds. Measurements include longitude, latitude, altitude, speed, time, etc. All birds have a different number (ranging from 121 to 542). All measurements have a tripID (1 for the first trip of every bird, 2

Fligner-Killeen test on binary data
That's not an R question but a stats question, but I wouldn't do it. For one thing: The variance of binary data is a function of the mean, so the research question is dubious in the first place. Secondly, the test is based on ranking and comparing absolute differences from the group median, which for binary data is generally 0 or 1, so all absolute differences will be 1.... Put

more questions Re: deleting (empty) directories
Thanks to Tim Conway and Phil Marek. The correct way(s) to synchronize two directory trees is to avoid a trailing "*" after the origin directory (either use a . or nothing) rsync -rlptPzu --delete /scratch/temp/Departure/. /scratch/temp/Arrival/ rsync -rlptPzu --delete /scratch/temp/Departure/ /scratch/temp/Arrival/ I was misled by my first tests rsync -rlptPzu --delete
