Data relationships for a World Cup Football App
how would I map relationships for world cup football matches. Currently in my app I have Countries, that''s it, all 32 competing nations are represented, with flags and details working great. I''d like to introduce two new models (Match and Stadium). A football match is obviously between two Countries in a Stadium. How could I set that up best? Country has_many Matches

Football Manager 2007 running very slowly
Hi all, I have a problem running Football Manager 2007. The game's match mode consists of an almost full-screen, almost-2D animation of the match. 10-15mins into the game this animation slows down to the point of making the game unplayable. The specs of my machine are above the requirements by a factor of 3-5 and so far I have been unable to identify any hardware bottlenecks. The only thing

Football Manager 2010 installation problems
I'm having some problems installing FM2010 on Ubuntu 10.4 with Wine. The installer loads fine, but the gui for the installer is all messed up, buttons in the wrong place. Then, when I get to the license agreement, I can't select accept. Every time I click it, I get a message saying I must select accept to continue. Is there a way around this at all? Thanks in advance for your help people.

Data source for American college football rankings?
An interesting, and topical, example of multivariate data for classroom illustrations are the American college football rankings. Starting at the end of October (or "week 8", the 8th week of the football season) a set of rankings called the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) will be published. This is a composite ranking based on two subjective polls, the Harris and USA Today polls, and a

The retirement of the "preview" dir
I meant to mention that the "preview" dir on the rsync web/ftp site is in the process of being retired. It will continue to exist through this current pre-release cycle, but will vanish soon thereafter. Anyone maintaining an rsync package can already simplify their scripts to look for the pre2 release in the top directory, which makes the URL for normal & pre-release versions

Duncan's retirement: who's taking over Rtools?
Likewise, a hearty THANK YOU from me and the rest of the team at Microsoft for all the work you, Duncan, have put into making R available for Windows users around the world over the past 15 years. I know it wasn't easy (Windows is not without its quirks), but R users everywhere, ourselves included, are deeply appreciative and have benefited greatly. The Microsoft R team is willing and able to

Duncan's retirement: who's taking over Rtools?
I agree with Moshe. It is important to maintain the independence of R as a programming language by itselft, even if it could benefit from Microsoft work (C++ Base Code, etc.), it is better in my opinion to keep it independent. Also, Duncan work and know-how shall be transferred to the next future R Core Developer which will be in charge of Duncan's roles. And, if appropriate, transfer the

The third report on the R-spatial evolution project has been published. https://r-spatial.org/r/2023/04/10/evolution3.html It links back to earlier blogs and presentations, and focuses on work that maintainers of R packages and workflows using rgdal, rgeos and maptools need to put in train now before the packages are archived on CRAN. The first changes will occur in June 2023, and the
