Star Sonata - wine client error:25: write: Bad file descript
Hi, I was planning to take a look at a little game I found called Star Sonata. I'm very new to Linux and I am running Ubuntu 10.10 with Wine 1.2.1. I looked up the game on winehq (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=13183) and it is listed as Gold and runs. The install ran fine, but when I tried to run the game it crashes on startup with the following:

Star Sonata
Hi. I've had issues with my Windows Laptop, so I've been trying to get Star Sonata working using Wine. It runs horribly under Cedega.
I've recently upgraded my system to the latest Ubuntu (8.04), and upgraded Wine to 1.1.2. I've got an NVidia GeForce 6800 GT card, and I'm running Pentium 4, x86 architecture.
At this time, with the default settings, there are no graphical

I installed a new game called Star Sonata... and yes i had the little bug that made it so i couldn't make a keyboard input... i fixed that with Winetricks dinput8.dll... and for a few hours the game ran perfectly... then at a random point it crashed... and i thought it was for no

Strange crashing behavior
Hi,
I'm trying to run a game called Star Sonata (http://www.starsonata.com/download.html) on my iMac (Mac OS 10.5.8) using Wine 1.2-rc7. If I run the installer first, I can choose to launch the game directly and it runs without crashing (at least, without crashing systematically). However, if I quit and relaunch the game, it crashes as soon as I get to the log-in screen. Below I have

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from Steam
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Thinkpad T500, I believe I'm using the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics that come with it. I'm using the default WINE install, I think version 1.1.42. I'm trying to run Monkey Island 2: Special Edition downloaded from Steam.
It actually sort of works. It installed just fine. When I first ran it gave me a blank screen and that was it.

Half Life 2 - Can't get past the loading screen
I'm running the game with the following options:
> -novid -dxlevel 90 -width 1024 -height 768
I've got sound working using the ALSA driver.
I can play other games just fine.
I have an ATI Radeon X2300 which never game me any problems, I even used glxgears and got these results, which I think are ok:

Libvirt fullscreen sdl problem
Hi all,
I use libvirt/kvm for my virtualization needs and have a little scerio in
mind that I want to implement: a small linux box boots up, launches an X
session and after that launches a virtual machine with a fullscreen sdl
window, With this I hope to achive several goals: user gets a familiar
experience with guest os ( I had windows in mind), near native graphics
responsiveness ( we deploy

Installing Winehq to OS X 10.5.1
Hi,
I'm wanting to install Wine to my eMac for one game: Star Sonata. However I don't understand where I go to install it. I've read all the install guides and gone to the download page but it just doesn't make sense, none of the links seem to be for Mac. I don't want to sound stupid posting a how to install wine into the forums but I feel this is the only way. I really need

Lego Star Wars and Spore are running slow suddenly.
I upgraded to Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, and Wine 1.1.8 some time last week, and then reinstalled Spore to give it some play. It worked fine for a couple of days, but now I'm in the space stage and the game is incredibly sluggish.
This wasn't happening beforehand, it was running fast and marvellously smooth until I tried to stop a war on my home planet. This appears to be a recurring theme,

star models
Hi,
I am traying to implement an STAR model, but I have some problems.
I am following the instruction of the model, that they are in:
http://bm2.genes.nig.ac.jp/RGM2/R_current/library/tsDyn/man/star.html
that they are from:
http://bm2.genes.nig.ac.jp/RGM2/pkg.php?p=tsDyn
The model is:
star(x, m=2, noRegimes, d = 1, steps = d, series, rob = FALSE, mTh,
thDelay, thVar, sig=0.05, trace=TRUE,

number that starts with star on PAP2
We have some extensions in our dialplan that start with a star. We can
dial them from Zap phones and SIP phones, but not from phones connected
to a PAP2. After the user presses star follwed by two digits (our
extensions are dialed with star followed by three digits) he hears a
fast-busy that comes from the PAP2, not from Asterisk. This also
happens with the builtin *8 (call pickup).

tar vs. star vs. something-else-I-don-t-know-about
Hello all,
today I've been sitting at work and upgrading a very-very-very old
server with RedHat Linux 6.2 installed up to CentOS 3.8. The process
went smoothly, as it is not the first time I was doing the things like
this. Just after upgrading I went to rpm -qai list and got an
interesting observation: there are at least two "tar" utilities installed
on the system.
One is tar, and

window managers
Are there any good window mangers that look decent, or can be configured decent looking that work well with Wine, including switching between fullscreen and windowed modes?
I ask because the quartz-wm window manager thats default for X11 on OSX isn't good enough to go along with RandR. Games that do not crash when switching back and forth will not decorate, or stop decorating... like moving

Software won't run in 0.9.58
Hi all !
I am trying to get Poker Academy Pro 2.5 to run in wine.
The demo can be downloaded here :
http://www.poker-academy.com/poker-software/
It somewhat ran before (quite buggy, with windows disappearing behind
the main one which was a fullscreen window), but I've had the very bad
idea to upgrade to 0.9.58 and now it just hangs after displaying the
splash screen.
