lotro - no sound or options alsa/wine 1.3.27
Pre wine version 1.2.26 sound worked fine in lotro and the in game audio
options page showed the sound card in a dropdown box and titles for all
of the sound option slide bars.
In 1.3.26 and now 1.3.27 there is no sound in game and the audio options
window does not show any sound card or titles for the sound options or
various volume slider bars and all of the bars are set at minimum. The

No sound in Wine with ALSA loopback devices
Hi,
I recently set up an ALSA-to-JACK bridge (as described in http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_and_Loopback_device_as_Alsa-to-Jack_bridge) in order to route non-JACK apps into JACK. Every sounding non-JACK app (even Flash Player) work flawlessly but Wine outputs no sound (in theory, ALSA loopback devices should behave transparently to Wine).
I'm using git version and every audio app I ran in

Help request: Wine + alsa on 64-bit Fedora 12
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with alsa on wine. I'm posting this to both
lists--I'm sure that there exist people on both ends who might be able
to help. Basically this is it: neither alsa nor oss show up in winecfg.
The wine-alsa and wine-oss packages are installed. I have a feeling
it's due to 32/64-bitness problems. I'm already having to run all wine
apps as wine32

No sound in Wine
Hello
I'm using Debian Squeeze, with my personal compiled Wine-1.3.17. Games run well with this version I think but...
I can't seem to get sound working in Wine. Native linux apps like VLC work with sound.
Winecfg says "Audio test failed" if I try that.
I can only see the OSS driver though I believe I am using ALSA(not sure though).

No sound in wine, no matter if pulseuaio is used or not
Hi there,
since my upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10, the sound is not working anymore in wine.
By starting "wincfg" audio settings I get:
Code:
fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 32 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels
fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels

No sound on Wine 1.3.29-1 x86_64
Hi All,
Running into an issue with audio not working on wine.
I recently tried installing an older version of wine from Fedora RPMs for a specific game.
They did not work so per #wine's suggestion on Freenode I removed all RPMs and installed Wine using Yum.
Wine 1.3.29-1 x86_64 was installed on Fedora 16 x86_64 via Yum.
Wine installed with no errors and I ran the initial 'wine cfg'

Sound Problems
Hey guys, I am having some problems getting the sound to work with
wine, and I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. This
is my first time using wine, so I am still learning about it. Anyway,
when I try to run my application, I get an error back:
err:wave:DSDB_MapBuffer Could not map sound device for direct access
(Input/output error)

Wine USB sound is OSS only?
I have a USB soundcard that I have tried to run with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
It doesn't work unless I set winecfg to oss instead of alsa.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?
How do I get alsa over USB?
Thanks,
Susan Cragin

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi,
I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI).
No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio.
Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. Direct Sound options

Debian 5 no sound in wine.
I recently upgraded a Debian 4 system to Debian 5. At the same time I upgraded the version of wine I was using. In both cases wine was compiled from source. Under Debian 4 wine worked fine, sound and all. Under Debian 5 programs still function fine but with no sound.
Using winecfg I can get to the audio tab and add the oss driver with no issues, can't seem to add an alsa driver at all,

Sound quit working for no reason
Just today my sound stopped working and I haven't updated or changed anything in awhile. I tried disabling and reinabling ALSA but that didn't work. Here is what comes up when I run winecfg:
Code:

Low Quality Sound and Video settings in TF2
I have managed to get TF2 working at an acceptable framerate under Wine. However 3 problems arise when playing it.
When I run the game, it always sets my texture detail level to "Low" when I can run at "High" or "Very High" with very little performance loss, but no matter what I do, whenever I exit and restart the game, it reverts the texture detail level back to

No sound in wine with Ubuntu 10.10, native sound works fine
Hello, i am a new Linux user as of last weekend. I successfully built my first computer and installed Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.2. I am using the hdmi out on my nvidia gtx 460 graphics card with on-board which works fine with standard pulseaudio for all tested native apps (system sounds, hulu on firefox, warzone 2100). I have tried every combination of winecfg audio tab settings as well as

No sound using OSS in Steam games
Whenever I change the sound driver from ALSA to OSS in winecfg all of my steam games are muted. Some of the games doesn't even start, some of them start but are totally silent with OSS.
I installed a couple of non-steam games into the same wineprefix, interestingly they can use both sound systems. So this issue is applied only to steam games.
If I apply the WINEDEBUG=+dsound parameter when

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody
I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it.
If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works).
I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user.
Please find below some details.

Sound Problems with Wine and ALSA
I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now without any luck.
I'm hoping someone here can offer some help.
I Replaced my mainboard and CPU about a month ago. The new board has
on-board sound as did my old mainboard, but the new board uses an
Intel8x0 sound chip, the old board had a Yamaha YMFPCI chipset. Because
of the difference in sound systems I needed to rebuild the

No sound in Steam with Bose USB speakers
Hi all,
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with wine 1.2.2 and have a set of Bose Companion 5 USB speakers connected to my system. The speakers work fine in Ubuntu in every way, except for wine. In WineCFG the audio is configured to use ALSA, but the "Test Sound" always fails no matter what I set it to. I've read this is a known problem, so not a big deal. However, when playing Portal or

Re: No sound in Wine 1.3.37 (tried known solutions already)
I am experiencing what appears to be this same problem. However, I am already running a self-compiled Wine, so that alone cannot be the solution in this case.
I am running 64-bit Debian, tracking testing. I have compiled Wine myself, from git revision b05be807583eca27dc0a4de896ba901bac54088c ("Release 1.4-rc5.").
As with the previous report, winecfg reports that it's using
