Paltalk
Hi, First of all I am using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) with Wine installed. I was wondering if anyone has tried this program called Paltalk. It is a voice chat program/client. They do provide a web/flash version but it is not the same as the application that is available on Windows. Initially I couldnt install it using wine, so I read somewhere that I had to install IE4Linux and MSN messenger

Paltalk sound input problem.
I'm trying to use Paltalk under wine but I can't get the microphone to work properly. I have 3 versions of wine available on my OpenSuse 11.4 64bit distribution. 1.3.12.14: This works perfectly with (windows version/ wine ) Audacity both for recording and playback using the alsa default devices. The only problem I have noticed is that every sound device is listed as USB audio which is

Paltalk client for Ubuntu
Hello. I am new to Ubuntu. I have downloaded Wine in the hope that it could help run PALTALK with Ubuntu. I have downloaded the PALTALK install, but Wine systematically refuses to open it.... apparently for security reasons. The Palltalk install is an 'exe' file. Now some people say that you cannot run Paltalk with Ubuntu, while others post videos showing you that YOU CAN! This is really

is there a was to stop IE for one program?
Hey everyone, I'm a total newbie... so excuse me if I confuse anyone! I had to install IE 7 via winetricks to get a program to work (paltalk). Paltalk is running like a champ now, but I'm encountering a new issue. A program I use for work (running in wine) is using IE 7 for when it needs to launch a website. Which would be fine if it was working properly. Before it was using chromium.

Phone -> NAT/FIREWALL -> Internet -> NAT/Firewall-> Asterisk
Hello, CentOS 6.x and Asterisk 11.x I have an interesting, to me at least, situation. Using a Polycom 501(also tried with X-Lite). I have set up Asterisk to accept registration from the Polycom and it registers successfully but then withing 30 seconds on the CLI I get the message that the Polycom is unreachable. The phone still shows that it is registered and if I try to place a call from the

Internet via Firewall
Hi, My linux computer is behind a firewall that I have no control of. Netscape under Wine works fine, if I connect to a webpage within the internal domain. But it cannot find anything outside the domain. The funny thing is... if I use the native linux Netscape, I can access webpages outside my domain too. This means my PC can access the internet, but somehow this does not work under Wine. This

Oddity with internet access and R 11.0 with Sophos firewall and Windoze XP - solved
Just in case anyone else hits this. I just installed R 11.0 alongside R 10.1.0 (off my D: drive in D:\R\... but I think that's irrelevent) and all went well, I selected my nearest CRAN mirror (Bristol is the one I like) and getting the selection list seemed to take ages though it did come eventually. However, I then got an error message saying that R couldn't make contact on port 80. I

phpEdit and MSI
Good morning! I'm running a fairly close-to-stock Redhat 9 box, and I've installed wine from the rpms. I have a ~/.wine/c/windows/system directory. When I go to try to install the new version (version 1.0) of phpEdit, it fails with the "low diskspace or corrupted cab file" message that I'm sure you're all familiar with. I've tried installing InstMSIa.exe (wine

Need Internet Explorer 6 or 7
I work for the state of Idaho and all of our paystubs and other important employee documents and other information are all online. The problem is that they are only accessible using Internet Explorer - and I am a Mac user. Yes, I've contacted them, many times - many levels, and just hit a brick wall each time. The website states: The State Controller's Office currently supports

Internet access and R CMD make check-devel
Thomas, In my experience, as pointed out also by Gabor, its often part of the devops build process to remove/comment out these tests or otherwise modify them so that they will pass (if they SHOULD pass) in your environment. That said, a quick look at the Makefile does suggest that failing on the internet tests should be "allowed" and not cause the whole process to return a non-zero
