JRE 8.1 for CentOS6
I have some software that says it requires JRE 8.1 or higher. If I go
to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html
and install jre-8u144-linux-x64.rpm I get jrel.8.0_144. Anyone know
where I can get 8.1?

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaRuntimeEnvironment
Hi all
According to a report made in #centos, the procedure described at
http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-sun-oracle-java-jdk-jre-7-on-fedora-centos-red-hat-rhel/
works OK for jdk 1.7
It looks pretty similar to
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaRuntimeEnvironment so I updated our
page to reflect the fact the jre-1.7 can be installed using the
procedure already

Java SSLv3 status on CentOS-6.6
Can anyone inform me as to whether or not Java on CentOS-6.6 still has
SSLv3 enabled? And if it does then how is it disabled?

java annoyances
Fresh install on a brand new box (Dell Precision 3500) of 5.6. I install
Sun java-1.6.0_26-b03, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02,
mixed mode)
Then
ln -s
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.26.x86_64/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
about:plugins shows java enabled (oddly enough, I seem to have flash,
32-bit, in the 32 bit libs, and that doesn't show; guess

Is Java insecure ?
Hi Everyone
I am considering learning Java. There have been well publicized Java
security incidents recently that make me not want to learn it.
However it's in Centos and I trust Centos, are the concerns in the media
blown out of proportion ?

JNLP app problems
Hey folks,
I'm trying to use a 5.3 box to run some JNLP apps, but all I get is a
view of XML.
I try doing some googling and don't come up with much other than this
one thread that says I may need both 32 and 64 bit Java to run JNLP.
But it is not clear to me how to do that.
thanks,

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
I guess I mispoke, I checked out the source from
http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/vmkit/trunk. I thought this was
vmkit2. I guess I was just referring to vmkit then.

Installing Java 7 on a system with Java 6
My system is 5.6, with upgrades. I installed Java 6 from the Centos
repository. It doesn't seem to have Java 7. I need the development
package. How can I install Java 7 development safely? I imagine I will
first have to uninstall Java 6.
Thanks,
John

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
I also misunderstood :) So, in this case, the problem is that your
version of openjdk is probably not supported. In fact, we only support
the version 7u23 of openjdk :) You can find this version here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase7-521261.html#jdk-7u25-oth-JPR
Currently, I'm modifying the internal design of vmkit and I'm not
working

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
Thanks for your help so far Gaël, but I ran into more trouble. I
installed the JDK on my system and the messages indicated the JVM
version needs to be 1.6. Did you intend to link me to Java 7?
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_25/jre/lib/amd64/server/:/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_25/jre/:/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_25/jre/lib/amd64/

Ok, I have exactly the same problem when I compile, I will try to
understand where is the problem.

Q4WineSetup:
Hi People, I am new to this entire setup and I am running Fedora17 on my
Linux machine. I am trying to do a college course at home with
Stanford.edu on eclipse & Karel package for intro to programming. As I
start the install of the 1st package which is
Java 1.6 JRE installer for the PC
<http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs106a/software/jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe>
It gets stuck on step 3.

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
Arg, you have to use a version strictly before the 7u25 (probably the
7u21), sorry!
I hope that it will work, because I also have problem to compile the
trunk version of vmkit (I haven't tested the trunk since two months).
I'm investigating. Tell me if it works for you with an older version
:)
See you,
Gaël
