Updating Wine and using native DLLs
Hey, I just have the two questions from the subject.
I'd like to keep wine updated to latest version (even if not the stable), how can I do it?
Second, I would like to use the native DLLs from my windows copy, is there an instructive on how to replace wine's with those? I'd like to test if some games that do not work currently will work with native dlls.
Thank you in advance.

must-install programs/applications/dlls?
I'm trying to get some applications working on my Wine install, some
applications just work without trouble (and even work better than on
windows! A good example of this is Master of Orion III), however other
applications don't work at all, and are supposed to be quite simple to
get working (WoW, IE using any of three or four techniques I found
online, etc).
Are there anyapplications or

Install all Windows XP DLLs
I need to know is there some utility I can use to install all my
Windows XP DLLs on my Wine install? I have a legal copy of Windows XP I
never use, so I might as well add all the native DLLs to my Wine
install, thus insuring all my Windows apps will always work, no need
for the reverse engineered Wine DLLs to run my Windows applications.

Re: Bug#181699: #181699 Re: #181699 wine: vague error message: "dramatically effect" in what way?
What really matters is not whether Wine has a Windows drive and
filesystem to sit on top of, but whether or not Wine can use native
Windows DLLs instead of its builtin ones. Some DLLs in Wine are so
perfect that they can be used in Windows - no benefit will be gained
from running an app that uses these natively. Some of Wine's DLLs are
buggy or incomplete - using stock native Windows ones

New to Wine, Install Problem
Wine Enthusiasts,
I'm new to Wine and am having a problem installing some software. I
didn't see the application in question in the Application Database.
I'm hoping the problem is something simple and that perhaps a Wine guru
on the list can point me in the right direction.
I don't have Windoze installed on any of my boxes. Unfortunately I now
find myself needing to run a

about overriding dlls
I am checking an old bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9637 which happens to affect several games. Before arriving to the bug in question, one has to workaround another bug relate to shdocvw.dll.
It is recommended to override a set of libraries which I believe should be put in system32. However, at least some of the dlls are already there. Are these the wine builtins or rather proxies as

Wine won't load native DLLs
Hi all
I signed myself up as the appdb maintainer to TaxCalc about a year ago so I thought it about time I did something to try and get it to work.
I know it does not work 'out of the box' so I was trying to use a few DLL overrides to pin down which native Wine libraries were causing difficulties (and so I can give some guidance on appdb). I have addeed taxcalc.exe in wine configuration

dlls. any way to convert or "wrap" them using wine?
Hello. I am working to make Linux ports of a couple of games that were made using AGS (adventure game studio). there's a linux engine for running games to use to port them and I am very close getting 2 of them working. However, one of them uses a few additional plugins, in dll format. Since linux is not compatible with dlls this causes the game to crash before it even starts up. I cannot

RichEdit and Dlls
Hello All,
I have an app that I wrote a few years ago with Delphi 5 and one of its components is a RichEdit. That's the only thing that does not work when running it with WIne. I've got the latest build for SuSE 8, version 20020804 and it does not work as well. I know Wine has richedit.dll as part of it but would I have to install MFCs dlls or anyother dll to enable it to run.
Thank you,

Trace for DLLs needed for applications
For those, who have dual boot system (Win/Lin):
Found one interesting program (for Windows) called xptruss (http://dev.depeuter.org/xptruss.php)
Checked for viruses and malware: Here is the report (http://r.virscan.org/report/27a526b97f0109ca8103f83cbc78b3a2.html)
The program could trace Win API calls and save debugging info into (large) text file. For me I found one useful thing that utility

Where does wine look for the native dlls
Hey guys,
I have wine 0.9.22. In winecfg, under the Libraries tab, I have the
choice of setting whether libraries are taken from a native windows
installation or from those built into wine. The only thing is, I don't
know where it's trying to get native libraries. I have three
installations of Windows on my computer - 98, XP and 3.11 ;-).
I have searched through my wine config files,

windows native dlls
I've read that to get some apps working I could try coping files from native win to wine dir. It was said that some dlls do not work.
I remember there was gdiplus, user32, kernel, and directx. I would like to know if there is exact list of dlls that are not going to work with wine. Or if there's script to copy dlls from native win install to wine dir.

using win32 DLLs in Linux
Hello,
I have a win32 DLL library, which I can't decompile, and can't get it's source
code, but which I'd like to use in my Linux program. I wondered about making
a win32<->Linux interface to use this library, using ready-to-use wine
libraries.
Is it possible, using wine libraries, to have access to functions from this
DLL?
If yes, can you tell me how?
Thank you in

replacing builtin library files with native dlls
Hi,
I want to replace some of the builtin libraries of
Wine with native ones to improve performance in some
games. The wine documentation refers to a
'~/.wine/config' that doesn't exist. From what I've
gathered from this mailing list, I should simply move
the native dlls I want into the fake c drive
(.wine/drive_c/windows) and Wine will use them
instead. Is this right or am I

problem with DivX9 and winetricks
HI
Trying to install Divx9 using winetricks. Using Ubuntu 8.10 and have cabextract installed, and my graphics card has it's driver installed (NVIDIA GEforce FX 5200).
Installation seems to go ok but does not re-start machine and there appear to be error messages in the terminal window, despite the fact that it says DivX is isntalled.

dlls - still a newbie
I'm very confused as usual.
I have an NTFS/Linux dual boot. I usually run from kde.
If I understand correctly, wine, when it runs a program will
1. see it ask for a function in a dll
2. check up in the config file for that dll and note if native or built-in or
nothing has been noted.
3. from there, it will either use built-in, or native file in the order
written.
So, if I install and app,

Native dlls for applications
Hello,
I am trying to install an application on Wine.
It needs an ole function which has not been implemented as of now.
I downloaded ole32.dll, I copied it @ windows/system32 and I changed to library to load native ole32 first.
However, Wine says fixme:ole:.... Why Wine still looks for the builtin function. The native function shouldn't say fixme....
Also, How can I check the status of
