forcing codepage for non-unicode apps
Hello. I've a problem running a few apps that are supposed to output some text in Russian, but it's not displayed correctly (instead it looks like text in the web browser when wrong charset is selected). I think these applications try to use GDI or standart Windows controls with non-unicode text in Windows-1251 Cyrillic codepage and it doesn't work. AFAIK in Windows XP there was

Multi-language input
Hi. I'm using Fedora 7 and Gnome. I need sometimes to be able to write Russian and Hebrew. This works fine with native linux applications, but not in Wine applications. If I launch Wine application, I can write only in English, if I try to type in other language, my input is either ignored or displayed as blocks. If I set LANG to ru_RU.UTF-8 or to he_IL.UTF-8 before starting Wine application,

Please help with Cyrilic fonts
Hi I'm trying to get Rosetta Stone software working under Wine, and actually it seems fine, apart from one thing: On the Russian language lessons, the font displayed is English-type, rather than Cyrillic. That's no good! It's working fine on my VirtualBox XP setup. I have copied all the fonts from XP and Vista installations, to no good effect. I have also tried winetricks

vorbiscomment, ogg123 charset bug - ticket #685
Hi I've a bug in vorbis-tools's libutf8 - some share/*.[ch] files don't include config.h; as a result, utf8.c:convert_set_charset doesn't try charset = nl_langinfo(CODESET) which would correctly return UTF-8, because HAVE_LANGINFO_CODESET isn't defined (it's defined in config.h, but config.h is not included). So, the bugfix is simple - just include config.h everywhere

Russian applications
I'm trying to run a Russian application in Wine 0.9.59 on Ubuntu 8.04. It seems to be running fine, but all the text is gibberish. How do I get Russian Cyrillic font support in Wine? Is it as simple as installing some fonts? Where would I get them, and where would I put them?

rsyncing from win1251 to UTF-8
Hello! I need to sync directories from one machine to another. Source server uses win1251 (russian) codepage to store filenames. Destination server uses UTF-8. How could I avoid garbage in filenames after rsyncing? Can rsync recode filenames from one codepage to another? If no, is there any way to do this task? Thank you.

Default password hash
We still have MD5 as our default password hash, even though known-hash attacks against MD5 are relatively easy these days. We've supported SHA256 and SHA512 for many years now, so how about making SHA512 the default instead of MD5, like on most Linux distributions? Wine and cyrillic input and output ?
Hello. Is it possible to run russian win98 programs under current wine, and get russian input and output? If yous, how to setup this? My desktop is russian, I have both koi8-r and unicode fonts installed. Last time I tried wine some months ago (maybe a year), and all russian output of the programs was unreadable - it looked like second byte of unicode characters was just set to zero. Thanks
