I use Debian Linux squeeze version wht KDE desktop. I installed wine and am missing most of the destop stuff I have seen in the documentation. I am getting the following when I run winecfg or wine control in my command line console. The X server is definitely running since everything in KDE works fine. Running echo $DISPLAY returns :0 No protocol specified No protocol specified Application

Screen font size
Probably very simple, but I cannot find it: Is there a way to increase the size of the screen fonts used by Wine and apps running under Wine ? Cheers, Ron. -- Progress in physics is achieved by denying the obvious and accepting the impossible. -- Robert Heinlein

How to fix Wine menu fonts that are too small
I just installed WINE and got it working to some extent, but the menu and dialog box fonts are too small. See an example at this URL: http://www.fixaim.com/temp/winecfg.jpg After searching winehq.org and Google groups and various other places, the only remedies that have been suggested have not worked. One suggestion was to copy the fonts found in such places as /usr/share/fonts/ttf and

Wine fonts messed up
I started using wine and used it to play return to Castle Wolfenstein which worked great. I installed Adobe Acrofat 7 Professional and now all of the wines menus are small and unreadable. Unable to use alsa, unusable driver for winecfg
Got a problem with wine. I compiled the 1.1.24 version and a lot of things work very fine. But I can't use the Alsa driver output. When launching winecfg and selecting the Audio tab, a dialog box tell me that the driver "alsa" is present in the registry but unusable and asks me to remove it from the registry. I don't know why the alsa driver is unusable. I have the correct

wine-users Digest, Vol 66, Issue 120
Could you be more specific. If I need to make a connection to localhost then I am really confused. This is my first shot at wine so don't expect much in the way of knowledge from this end. All I was trying to do was pull up the wine configuration (menu?) and set the screen definition. Also, from the error message, it appears that there should be a system tray on the screen. If I minimize

error opening winecfg
I updated my distro from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 yesterday. I did not update wine because the version it wants to use is 1.1.23 and I remember several posts of people having trouble with either .23 or .24. All of my games and office/work programs run fine through wine, but the wine cfg window will not start up. I get: ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such

Compiling from source - where is winecfg?
Hey all, I've just switched distro to Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) from LM9 Isadora. Some of you may be aware that the Wine Debian packages are extremely old (the repo the main page directs me to doesn't go above 1.1.4.2), so I compiled 1.3.4 from source, without installing. That went fine, insofar as I tested with a previously-installed app and it ran, but now I want to install a

Stick on installation: winecfg not found
Hi, I followed the installation instruction step by step with the wine 1.3.13 package. I stick at point 3.1 user guide: using winecfg. If I input /usr/local/bin/winecfg or only winecfg in the wine-1.3.13 directory, the error message -bash: winecfg: command not found appears. There is a directory winecfg under wine-1.3.13/programs/ but no executable files. The wine package is installed under

Winecfg and users
Winecfg contains potentially harmful configuration parameters (like native overrides) and are shown in the same way as useful configuration parameters like windows version or virtual desktop. Maybe creating a box where a user can select it's level of knowledge in wine and hide part of the interface accordingly. It could also be used to show warning informations when changing this level for

Bugs not triggering if foret to run winecfg
I just updated to version 0.9.59 and decided that it was time to do a proper retest of one of my apps (DVD Profiler (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1975)). I was quite chuffed when I ran the install and some of the bugs seemed to have been squashed, but I was suffering from the recent task bar issue (bug 12362 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12362)) so

Test: patch to add adva, ced d3d settings in winecfg
Hello everybody... My patch to add advanced d3d settings in winecfg is almost ready. In fact, i only have to figure out how to detect video memory size to display it when no key is set to force it or to reset. Stefan D told me to use DirectDraw, but i wouldn't find. So that is the last thing (except some better naming...) to do for this patch. Everything works well and i would like some

Defaulting WineCFG
So this is really annoying... I set Wine to use a virtual desktop (@ 640x480) and then when I went to set it back I can no longer see the apply/ok buttons in the winecfg to change it back to anything else... is there a terminal command to A. Default WineCFG or B. Disable using a virtual desktop? ~Jeff

jack not available in winecfg
Hi, I'm running wine 1.0.0-1 on xandros. I want to use wine with jack. So I added libwine-jack to my system and expected to see the jack driver in winecfg after the alsa one but nothing. But adding libwine-oss show new oss entry in winecfg, so why not for jack? Any Idea?
