nouveau doesn't recognize my hdmi monitor
I have an ASUS UX50V laptop with a "NVIDIA Corporation: G98M [GeForce G 105M]" video card. Linux Mint 18.1 64-bit is installed with xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.12-1build2. system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor. That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver wasn't available for it, I

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/fbcon: fix suspend/resume fbcon
Current code disables fbcon acceleration before fbcon is suspended, leading to corrupted console after resume from s2disk. In a similar fashion we must make sure that fbcon acceleration is enabled before we revive the console. With this patch s2disk works correctly on my MacBookPro6,2 with GT216 [GeForce GT 330M] hibernate: kernel: nouveau [ DRM] suspending fbcon... kernel: nouveau [

Can I remove lib-elf.so.1?
I am cleaning up my 4-STABLE system. After a fresh installworld, I am looking at files that did not get touched by the install. Is it safe to remove all such files? In particular, I am looking at /usr/libexec/lib-elf.so.1, which has the schg flag set. I am afraid to remove this for fear of making my system unbootable. Could somebody please reassure me that it is ok to noschg and remove this old

New monitor weirdnesses (CentOS 5.11)
I just got a new monitor for my desktop system (the old one died after *many* years of service). The new monitor is a high res 16:9 monitor, but the VESA video driver insists on using 1024x768 (which was the resolution of the *old* monitor). It does seem to detect higher, 16:9 resolutions but it is not using them. I *think* I need to set some low-level video mode thing, but it has been a

nouveau PUSHBUFFER_ERR on 5.9.0-rc2-next-20200824
Since upgrading to linux-next based on 5.9.0-rc1 and 5.9.0-rc2 I have had my mouse pointer disappear soon after logging in, and I have observed the system freezing temporarily when clicking on objects and when typing text. I have also found records of push buffer errors in dmesg output: [ 6625.450394] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: disp: ERROR 1 [PUSHBUFFER_ERR] 02 [] chid 0 mthd 0000 data 00000400 I

Comparing two gff/gtf files : de novo transcripts v/s reference
Hi All I am wondering if people based on their experience could share what methods one could use to compare two gff/gtf files. The reason why I want to do so is that we have constructed a RNA-Seq based transcriptome and would like to compare it with reference transcriptome we had from in-silico approaches. Ideally we are looking to find out 1. new genes we see 2. transcripts where the

I'm waiting to see if my current monitor actually dies. It's an Asus 1920x1200 monitor that I like rather a lot, but it occasionally acts a bit flaky when coming back out of sleep mode. Starcraft crashes
I have used Starcraft under wine for a long time, and I have just learned to put up with random crashes. The only version of wine I have gotten to work is ancient (991212)! I have tried more recent versions, but I haven't been able to get them running at all. Is there a wine that doesn't crash randomly running starcraft? What wine do you use for starcraft? (BTW, there seems to be a

Warcraft 3 & Starcraft run _without_ a CD crack!
I got Starcraft and Warcraft 3 working without a CD Crack using wine. The trick is a link in the ~/.wine/dosdevices directory to your mounted CD-Rom directory with the name: "d:" for example if you starcraft CD is mounted in /media/STARCRAFT then enter the following commands: cd ~/.wine/dosdevices ln -s /media/STARCRAFT d: Don't connect the the Battle.net. Starcraft will crash
