Raster images and saving with original pixel dimensions in tiff, jpeg, or png perferablly.
Hello R-Help, I want to be able to read in a raster image, plot it with grid.raster or rasterImage and save the image with one pixel per a pixel element from my array. Saved preferably in a common image format. The real goal of my question is to eventually read in images with text on them, manipulate them with my controlled functions, save them without changing the image dimensions, and perform

Google SketchUp 7 won't start again.
About 3 weeks ago I downloaded and installed Sketchup 7 on my Ubuntu Jaunty linux machine with Wine 1.1.22 installed. Since then I have started Sketchup several times and it has always started. Well, day before yesterday I was actually going to use it, but when I launched it all I got was the icon in the taskbar telling me that Sketchup was starting, and then it went away. No error messages or

Re: Running google Sketchup 6
I'm interested in this speed problem. Does it persist with the latest versions of everything ( Sketchup 7, Wine 1.1.9, and Kubuntu 8.10)? See http://wiki.winehq.org/GoogleSketchup for tips on how to get Sketchup 7 running on Wine.

Google Sketchup 6.x works, but only with xserver-xgl.
wine version: 1.0-rc4 - Installing Sketchup works fine with some minor issues. - Running Sketchup will result in the following error message: "Sketchup was unable to initialize OpenGL! Please make sure you have installed the correct drivers for your graphics card. Error: ChoosePixelFormat failed", and after that the application closes down. As mentioned in several of the test

So, you have Intel graphics? Which chipset? I hear the 915 isn't good enough for sketchup, but the 945 might be, though you may have to disable DRI. See http://wiki.winehq.org/GoogleSketchup for more info, look at the links section at the bottom.

netCDF to GeoTIFF by layer in r
Hi Ahmed, When reading from a ncdf file you can use the 'varname', 'lvar' and 'level' arguments - see the 'Details' section in the docs https://www.rdocumentation.org/packages/raster/versions/2.6-7/topics/raster <https://www.rdocumentation.org/packages/raster/versions/2.6-7/topics/raster> We can't tell what is in the ncdf file from what you report other

rgdal error when trying to import raster
Indeed, Ben, but the question was something more like it is not a Dependency, just Suggested, so why the error... John: If you read the Introduction to the 'raster' package vignette, it indicates that some input formats are supported within the raster package and some rely on other packages. Clearly the attempt to read a TIFF was an example of the latter. Had you used a different input

large files produced from image plots?
Hi list, I wonder if anyone has thoughts on making image plots in R [using image() or image.plot(), or filled.contour()]- I've made quite a bit now, but they seem quite large in size when exported to pdf file format (even after compressing with pdftk or ghostscript, which I regularly do). I know that for "images", raster graphics output (png, tiff) may be the way to go, but often the

R getting slower until it breaks...
Hello R-users, I'm currently facing a pretty hard problem which I'm hopping you'll be able to help me with. I'm using R to create images. That alone is not the problem, the problem is that I'm using R to create 168 000 images... My code (which is given below) use different package (raster and rgdal) to import a image (size 20gig) and divide it into 168 000 pictures that are

Fwd: netCDF to GeoTIFF by layer in r
Hi I have a netCDF file of volumetric soil water content at four different soil layers and want to convert each soil layer in the netCDF file to a GeoTIFF layer. This code converts the netCDF file to one GeoTIFF layer, i.e. unclear which soil depth. file.nc <- "C:/Soil_Weather_data/Agro/VMC21/VMC21.nc" file.tiff <- "C:/Soil_Weather_data/Agro /VMC21/VMC21" importnetcdf

Including graphics files in MS office / open office
Hi all, I'm trying to write up some recommendations for what graphics formats are most useful for inclusion into ms office and openoffice. There have been a few discussions on the list in the past, but I haven't seen a summary. These are the options I've seen so far, along with there costs and benefits: * high-resolution (600-dpi) png output (or tiff or jpg or other raster

R-console vs. bash console (execution halted)
Dear Everyone, I am using R 2.6.2 on my Redhat AS4. I installed the RPM offered on the cran website. I would like to use R from my bash console with the following command: /path/to/R --vanilla --slave --args < /data/myscript.R this script invokes a range of functions and tools, among others to process a bunch of raster images in a loop using GDAL. The thing is that releasing this command in

Saving R graphics as various file types.
I'm using R called via Rpy from Python running from Quantum GIS. Put simply, I'm developing a GUI wrapper round some R plotting functions. What I want to do is offer the user a 'Save Plot As...' option. The problem is divining what sort of output files R can copy a graphics device into. The 'capabilities()' function gives a few clues, and there should always be

grid.cap() requires more time?
Dear all, I am puzzled by the following behavior of the new grid.cap() function, which appears to run out of time when capturing the output of a graphic. It works fine if I introduce a Sys.sleep(1) before executing more code, library(grid) quartz() grid.circle(gp=gpar(fill="black")) gg <- grid.cap() dev.new() grid.raster(gg) ## completely blank gg[gg!="white"] ## indeed
