What is 'CPU' memory?
When playing WoW through Wine (1.3.6) my video settings are limited because some of them require "2G or more CPU memory". Another computer in the house can play in Windows with those settings maxed out on a graphics card that only has 1G built in, so the setting doesn't mean graphics memory. My computer has 5G of ram (32 bit PAE kernel) so it's not that. So what is CPU

Kernel types and xen caps : PV/HVM, 32/64 bit, PAE/non-PAE
Hi Is there a doc/wiki page which explains, the kind of domu images/appliances/kernels can be run with what type of dom0 kernels(xen_caps). For example : -- Can a 32 bit, non-PAE domU run on 64 bit, PAE dom 0 in PV mode ? (or HVM mode ?) Are there any checks that can be done before doing the migration ? Is there any programmatic way (from python) to find out if the kernel in a domU disk

PAE Kernel
I have a box running CentOS 5.x 32 bit. I noticed these kernels are installed. WoW crashes Wine
So I managed to install and get WoW running on my Eee PC 1000HD. However, the program will crash unexpectedly after 5-20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be a predictable occurrence that causes it to crash tho. I have been looking for answers but have found nothing so far. I should clarify that it isnt a complete crash. Wine pops up an error about how it needs to close but I can still hear

multiple wine version questions
If I have two different versions of wine installed, do I need to install each program I want to run through wine is a separate folder, or will they both get the data from the one .wine folder in the home directory? Is there anything special I need to know or do before building the new version so that it doesn't mess up by current version in case I need to go back to that? The newest

[PATCH] Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen
Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen. Currently, on a machine with RAM above 4G, we can not run 32bit VMX guest on x86_64 xen, the root cause is that the PAE page table PDPT must below 4G, this patch fixes this issue. Also did some cleanup. Signed-off-by: Xin Li <xin.b.li@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jun Nakajima <jun.nakajima@intel.com>

programs through wine crashing
I put a new video card in a previously stable system, no other changes. Now WoW, Ventrilo, and City of Heroes all work for a little while then crash, sometimes with an error message, sometimes without. System: AMD Phenomx4, 5gig RAM Fedora core 10 x64, installed from disk, fully updated Wine 1.1.14, installed through yum New video card: Nvidia geforce 9800gt, 1gig memory Current video driver:

keyboard input messed up in Wine 1.1.15?
I'm in Fedora 10 x86_64 and did a system update last night that included updating Wine from 1.1.14 to 1.1.15. Now when I play WoW my keyboard input is all messed up, I hit one key and get the result of another - example W,S,A,D keys used for movement will instead act like the space bar or esc keys, or the other way around. I try to type in chat and whatever key I hit acts like some other key,

error opening winecfg
I updated my distro from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 yesterday. I did not update wine because the version it wants to use is 1.1.23 and I remember several posts of people having trouble with either .23 or .24. All of my games and office/work programs run fine through wine, but the wine cfg window will not start up. I get: ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such

Cannot install dahdi-linux on (old) PAE kernel.
I am trying to install dahdi-linux from packages onto an OEL5u3 server which has an old kernel (5.2.6.18_128) and is a PAE variant. As there are no kmod packages now available for this kernel I am having to build them from source packages. I have installed the dahdi-firmware-2.0.0-1_centos5 RPM directly. I have downloaded the following SRPMS dahdi-linux-2.4.1.2-1_centos5.src.rpm

Advanced Diary (a simple calendar/journaling program)installed fine, but when I go to run it the splash screen for the program shows up then I get an error box that says: Error Creating Object. Please verify that Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1 or later have been properly installed. The program stops there. A google search turned up this a download page for MDAC 2.8 here:

CentOs 7 i386 & PAE Kernel
Hi Gurus, I've been playing with CentOS 7's AltArch i386 builds with some good results on one machine, but can't get it to boot properly on another with a newer Bay Trail CPU. Previously CentOS 6 i386 worked on both, and that set a legacy I'd like to recreate... I *think* the problem is that the 7 kernel is non-PAE, and that has some peculiar knock on effect that prevents some

Ventrilo crash error - related to winecfg error?
I have checked the db before posting and I think I have tried everything listed there. Using Fedora 11, wine 1.1.20 (newest in their repository except .23). All sound works - including in Vent until it crashes. Vent starts up, I can connect to a server, I hear the connection sounds, and then I get a 'had an error, shutting down' box and it crashes. Running from terminal I get: ALSA

CentOS 6.2 32 default kernel support pae?
A client is insisting to install CentOS 6.2 32 bit version [1] on a system with 4GB RAM. Lately, I have done 64 bit installations only; not sure if the 32 bit kernel supports pae for >= 4GB RAM. If anyone knows the answer please let me know (will save me time on an installation in my setup). [1] The Client's ERP vendor has validated the application on the 32 bit platform only thus the

PAE panic on nv75a / Tecra M2
