If I do:

Print Commands in smb.conf
Hello all!
Another question:
What are the commands lprm command, lpresume command, alpause command and
so on good for?
Alright, I can imagine that they are to controll the spooling behaviour on
the server, but how can I get these Win95 Boxes to recognize that the
spooling is happening on the server?

Wine 1.1.17 not detecting Xvnc display
Hello,
I want to run some program with Wine in a headless server. However, I want to access it via VNC, so I am using Xvnc (vncserver is a wrapper script) from tightvnc as a X server. But I have a problem: wine doesn't detect the display of the X server. This is what happens:
Code:
[martin at urano ~]$ DISPLAY=:1
[martin at urano ~]$ vncserver :1
New 'X' desktop is urano:1 (...)

Any way to boot a CD if no BIOS support & CD-ROM is not 100% standard?
I originally asked in a hardware/software forum, but, got basically no
results. It occured to me that if anyone would know, it would be you
people. What I'm wanting to do is set up a rescue disc for a really
old laptop. It needs to boot up a linux based CD, hopefully with
minimal to no working stuff on the harddrive (I plan to put a floppy
image to be written to a disk when needed to do the

Can't make wine work... Wrong libraries loaded?
Hi everybody!
I posted a message a few days ago about my difficulties in trying to make wine work.
Doing some research I found out that wine can't work without the /tls libs since it now supports threads. Interistingly, though, I have the 3 versions of this library (/lib/pthreads, /lib/i686 and /lib/tls, which is a part of the Glibc package. My kernel is 2.6.16. As I could understood, wine

Syslinux and USB support
Hi,
I'm writing as I'm an happy user of syslinux/isolinux(pxelinux, as it
has kade booting from floppy/hd/cd simple and reliable...
(I've looked the tons of workaround developers had to develop to
circumvent bugs BIOS bug in isolinux....)
I think that next frontier for syslinux should be USB booting: it
already works, but here also there are a lot of BIOS problem that a

How to disable hal's polling of CD-ROM drive in CentOS 5.1?
Given that I hardly ever use the CD-ROM drive, it makes no sense to have
hal constantly polling it for new media.
How can I disable this polling in CentOS 5.1?
Thanks.

Unable to boot from USB CD-ROM on AMD Geode LX800
I'm trying to build a bootable CD for an Advantech PCM-4153 board (based on
an AMD Geode LX800) that will allow to boot from USB CD-ROM drive. I've
created an ISO that will load ISOLINUX (3.51) and appears to load the kernel
and initrd images, but reboots the system when it tries to run the kernel.
When I use either isolinux.bin and isolinux-debug.bin, the last messages I

CD-ROM virtualization
I''m new to Xen and I''m trying to scan the source codes. Anyone could please give me an overview of how the CD-ROM access is virtualized in Xen?
What are the source files involved in that? Any quick explanation would be a great help.

OFF TOPIC: Chainloading CD-ROM boot after ISOLINUX + MEMDISK.
Hi,
This is off topic for this list, but someone on this list may be able to point me in the right direction.
For a couple of years I have been using ISOLINUX + MEMDISK and Smart Boot Manager to chainload a CD-ROM boot after loading a floppy image into RAM with MEMDISK.
My problem now is that Smart Boot Manager does not support/detect SATA optical drives used in new hardware.

I should probably have pointed out in the previous note that CD-ROM/HDD
hybrid mode is obviously rather experiemental at this point. I would

Help with running childrens cd-rom in Xubuntu
Hello, I'm a newb with wine and not terribly bright with linux. I am
trying to get some of the kids' games to work in Xubuntu. I got wine
installed, and it seems I got the hot wheels game installed, after
finding that I needed to run everything as sudo. Now when I run the
program in the windows window I see a low-res video of a cd-rom being
inserted into a disk drive, presumably

CD Rom problem with install
Greetings community,
OK, I have searched around a bit and cannot figure out how to solve this issue.
If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
I issue "virt-install" to start a new VM install, with /dev/cdrom
containing the source files for my Centos installation I want to do.
I answer all the questions "virt-install" throws at me, and when it

Hi,
I have a question about cd-rom for linux system. Although it is not
related to samba directly, I believe many people in this group are
expert about linux and may give me correct answer. I am going to buy a

Hi,
I'm having trouble booting my system using the SuSE 9.0 installer CD

another cPCI slot.
System Details:

ISOLinux wouldn't boot NT CD-ROM bootsect
Deal all,
Hi. I'm a new user of isolinux. And I 'm trying to boot a WinXP
installation CD with it. I extracted the bootsect, and place it into
the same folder together with isolinux.bin. Here's a section of my
isolinux.cfg:
...
label winxp
kernel xpsect.bin
...
The boot splash showed fine. Unfortunately when I tried to boot it, I
got the following:
