OGG Edge artifacts due to compression
Hello all,
I'm finishing up a sound engine for a PC game product which uses Vorbis
to playback OGG music samples. However, I've run into a problem with
edge artifacts on sounds that need to either loop back onto themselves
or into other music tracks, without fading. I've also experienced this
same problem on large music files that are broken up into smaller
permutations to save

echo cancellation
Hi!
I want to use speex for echo cancellation in my program, but I have bad
results.
I will explain what my program does. it is a client-server application.
I run a server in room A and a client in room B. the client sends some
voice to the server and the server plays it on loudspeakers. I run another
server in room B and connects to it from room A using the same application
that runs

AEC in live performance
Hi,
I plan to use AEC for a live performance, storytelling for very young
children (and their parents!) in a mongolian yourte . Actually the
storyteller can make vocal loops, there is an omnidirectional microphone
in the center of the yourte, 5 loudspeakers in a circle along the
yourte's wall and Pure Data in a linux box. And now she wants to make
vocal loops over music and loops over

Wine-20010824 problems with wineinstall and loading windows DLL's
Hi
I am running Slackware Linux 8.0 with Kernel 2.4.5 and perl 5.6.1. I
have my windows partition(D:) mounted at /windows and my fat
startuppartition(C:) at /dos. Windows itself is found in /windows/windows.
I tried installing Wine-20010824 using wineinstall and these are the
problems I had:

It's possible to do a codecs translation during a call in Asterisk?
Hi everyone,
We are using the IAXy boxes and Asterisk over the internet and I was
wondering if Asterisk can do a codec translation during a call in order
to lower the bandwidth that the comunications consumes?
I mean, the IAXy boxes only support the ADPCM and uLAW codecs, but for a
certain number of calls our bandwidth runs out, then I think if Asterisk
can convert the signal that comes in ADPCM

Problem with WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM sound files
Hi all,
I recently managed to install "multimedia German dictionary", which I
get with the local newspaper , under wine and it works OK. The problem
it is when I try to use the most important feature for me - the
pronunciation. When I try to listen to any word , no sound is played
and wine outputs the following to the console:
wodOpen unimplemented format: WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM

Wine why no audio?
Hi.
Until Fedora 15, I used qsynth+Fluidsynth+alsa+biab and everything worked fine.
But not anymore with Fedora 16. I can't see any midi drivers in band-in-a-box.
I'm sure about my setup. Everything seems fine.
I dont know which one is failing, but I suspect wine. The midi ports are ready:
$ aconnect -o
client 14: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel]

Re: ACM codec
Mr. Blum,
I had to make some assumptions writing the driver, because I had no previous
experience writing ACM drivers. I did what I could based in Microsoft's
documentation but, of course, I made same mistakes. I had no time to test
the code I wrote yet and will not in the next 2 weeks. All I can tell you
now is about what I did and about my sources. So, considering your
enthusiasm, I suggest

ogg player on a clie
Hi folks, I've been talking with Jack in IRC (mainly in the subversion
channel), but he suggested that I pose my vorbis questions here, to
the community of experts.
I own a Sony Clie PDA, which is a PalmOS-4 device. Sony wasn't
patient enough to wait for PalmOS-5, which has a standardized sound
API and a new CPU powerful enough to decode audio. Instead, they just
stuck a proprietary,

I have an Asterisk related problem with mutualphone.
I can connect to any number with any softphone that I am using (iaxcomm,
SJPhone, and a few others).
Also I have a Grandstream BT 101. But I cannot call (via Asterisk) to
mutualphone destinations. Other destinations go fine.
A working phone call (e.g. from iaxcomm) gives the following on the
console:

Configuration/Announce
with today's CVS commit (for those who stay up to date with
the latest developments), you'll have to modify your Wine
configuration to reflect the changes.
First of all, your Wine configuration file now needs a WinMM section
containing the following:
[WinMM]
"Drivers" = "wineoss.drv"
"WaveMapper" = "msacm.drv"
"MidiMapper" =

Can compressed music sound better than uncompressed?
I quote from "Principles of Digital Audio" by Ken C. Pohlmann:
"Because perceptual coders tailor the coded signal to the ear's acuity, they
similarly tailor the required response of the playback system itself. Live
music does not pass through amplifiers and loudspeakers, it goes directly to
the ear. But recorded music must pass through the playback signal chain. Much

ADPCM support with RECORD FILE
I want to record audio in ADPCM format. According to the "show codecs"
output of Asterisk, it looks like it supports adpcm. But I do not know what
to tell the "RECORD FILE" directive in my AGI script.
The RECORD FILE command usually has this form:
RECORD FILE <filename> <format> <timeout> [BEEP]
It records fine in WAV or GSM if I enter "wav" or
