context probably won't give you any insight into what it actually
means, namely that because of X limitations, Wine can't actually
change the screen depth and lies to the application instead. Usually
this is fine; in fact I've never heard of it causing a problem. We
really have no business printing that scary useless thing IMO.
It should never be necessary to document these things.

New firefox causing anyone else problems - CentOS 4.X?
Looks like Firefox may be getting another update soon, if my problem is
not atypical. Prior to the latest, had NP for *months*. Anyone else
seeing any problems?
BTW, running the recent Java console from sun that was detailed in
another thread a week or two back with Firefox. Had NP prior to the
latest update, if that offers any useful info. Would like to test the
openjdk for us if it's

it was mentioned that echo cancellation will not work if the playback and
capture is done on 2 different soundcard. I would like to know whether this
is true. I trying to use Speex Echo Cancellation on capture audio from a
webcam mic with the playback through my onboard audio.
Based on what is mentioned in the troubleshooting guide, does this mean that
I would never be able to get the Echo

profiling KVM i/o on CentOS 5
Hi,
I am wondering what tools are available to troubleshoot KVM I/O problems on
CentOS 5, given that the kernel is 2.6.18 with some backports to support
virtualisation?
kvm_stat / kvmtrace - These seem to be available in the kvm-tools package.
ftrace related things seem not to be available.
OProfile is available, can it be used?
Also, SystemTap is available, can it be used?

Unexpected behaviour when comparing (==) long quoted expressions
Hi everyone:
I?m one of the interns at RStudio this summer working on a project that
helps teachers grade student code. I found an unexpected behaviour with
the |==| operator when comparing |quote|d expressions.
Example 1:
|u <- quote(tidyr::gather(key = key, value = value,
new_sp_m014:newrel_f65, na.rm = TRUE)) s <- quote(tidyr::gather(key =
key, value = value,

Olle ?) aiming to unify logging, eventing, monitoring (AMI, SNMP, ...)
APIs.
I think that thread occurred when it was decided to include a version number
in Manager interface.
I agree this is an interesting idea ...
The use case that made me ask this is here :
I've got a running system which is working ok up to a moment it stops to
dial out on ISDN-BRI spans (incoming calls are ok). When

Using the Cider approach with Wine
Hi there, I'm extremely new to Wine, at least from this side of things (I've used CrossOver and Cider). I gather that installing Wine sets up a "central" mock-Windows installation in the home folder, and I'm much more interested in building a tweaked wrapper to enclose a specific game in a .app package, the way Cider does it. Is that something that is being done by others?

Steam Client : get terminal output from games
Just a quickie question...
Could someone remind me how I attach my console output to a game being run through the Steam client? Otherwise I think I am just seeing the output from the Steam client itself - right?
I am trying to troubleshoot launching Bioshock 1 and I don't have a retail copy of the game to try out...
Thanks 8)

trace in uniroot() ?
Despite my years with R, I didn't know about trace(). Thanks.
However, my decades in the minimization and root finding game make me like having
a trace that gives some info on the operation, the argument and the current function value.
I've usually found glitches are a result of things like >= rather than > in tests etc., and
knowing what was done is the quickest way to get there.

Partial Keyboard Functionality In Old PC Game (Heavy Gear 2)
Hey folks,
I've been trying to get Heavy Gear 2 (awesome old Activision mech FPS game) up and running on wine. The game requires Direct X 6, which necessitates that I run wine configured to Windows version 95 or 98. Everything works fine except for the fact that SOME, actually the majority of the keys on my (laptop) keyboard don't work.
To be more specific, all keys seem to work when in

[CitiesXL 2011]Doesn't work
Hello,
I installed correctly the game with wine 1.3.4 but when i launch the game, it doesn't work.
I have 2 windows popup (wine Error) after to launch the game :
1st window popup :

2nd window popup :
