Anyone using antivirus software?
Hello list,
I was just wondering if anyone is using anti-virus software on their Samba server. I have protection on my clients, but I want to run software on the server too. I've looked at McAfee's Virus Scan, but as far as I can tell, it only uses "on-demand" scanning, meaning I have to trigger it from the command line, or run a cron job. I would like to have

Antivirus for CentOS? (yuck!)
Hi All,
Yes, I know, it's really really embarrassing to have to ask but I'm
being pushed to the wall with PCI DSS Compliance procedure
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSS) and have to either justify why
we don't need to install an anti-virus or find an anti-virus to run on
our CentOS 5 servers.
Whatever I do - it needs to be convincing enough to make the PCI
compliance guy tick the

Antivirus for Mac Wine?
Ok, I'm a brand new Wine user, but hardly new to Mac or Windows.
Should I install a Windows or Unix antivirus/antispyware?
(tried Avast, it installed but no Avast windows will open)

antivirus
Hey Guys,
We have a central server which runs centos, most of the client machines run
on windows.
Does anybody know of a solution whereby we can manage antivirus for all the
clients from the centos server?
I know there are management consoles for managing antivirus on windows but
we dont want to run a windows server..
Anybody have any ideas? Or are we just screwed and need to have a windows

unpackPkgZip: "unable to move temporary installation" due to antivirus
Hi,
Me and an office colleague on Microsoft Windows 10 PCs are having
difficulty installing any package. This is a recent issue for us, and
we suspect our McAfee antivirus has modified by our IT department.
Let's take, for example, install.packages("mypackage"), here is the
output:
package ?mypackage? successfully unpacked and MD5 sums checked

yum update (first in a long time) has broken clamd.exim
I have just run a 'yum update' on a Centos 7.2 server which updated several
hundred RPMs.
The update worked fine with no errors or warnings
I then rebooted the server and now my EXIM is rejecting emails because the
clamd service isn't running.
So I tried:
[root at ollie2 ~]# systemctl restart clamd.exim
Failed to restart clamd.exim.service: Unit clamd.exim.service failed to load:

Re: What antivirus program is the best for a computer?
I was using MaAfee(free version) antivirus. That's good but it makes my pc too slow. I am using kaspersky now. But searching the web I came to know that Bitdefender is the most popular antivirus. It was a beneficial workout for me to go through your web page. It definitely stretches the limits with the mind when you go through very good info and make an effort to interpret it properly.

can I use CentOS as a antivirus / spam filter / HTTP AV gateway?
Hi all
I've been thinking about using CentOS on a Dell R200 server and turn it
into a firewall / network monitor / traffic shaper in our datacentre,
instead of using a dedicated firewall device.
One of the devices that I have been looking at, with my limited budget,
is the D-Link DFL 860 -

It provides AV, SPI, VPN, DOS, P2P, etc

FIREWALL, Troopmaster FTP problem on Mac using Wine
On Mac using Wine trying to download database from FTP site for Troopmaster (Windows application) Application opens, I have upgraded program. I have fixed internet provider opening Port for use through modem. I believe I might need to add program to a list for firewall. On the Mac side, I can't see application (TroopMaster.EXE) to add to Firewall in Security. On the wine side I don't know

Virus Protection ... Which one...?
Hi all
I've found a few different packages (RAV, Kaspersky,Vexira, Clam ...)
which offer Anti-Virus features for Linux servers. It looks like RAV
specifically supports Samba servers.
My question is:
Can anyone relay their experiences / opinions / thoughts about which one
would work best in a multiple-server environment (~100 Windows Clients)?
Thanks in advance -- all comments are

Virus scan + removal on a mdbox mail storage
Hi,
I need advice on how virus scan and removal can be done on a _mdbox_
mail storage?
On a maildir storage the virus scanner (e.g. clamav etc.) can detect
and remove a email that is infected, since every email and attachment
are stored in separate files.
But in mdbox the emails and attachments are compressed together in one
ore more mdbox-files ...
I am anxious to convert my mail

Antivirus for Windows with Linux administration console
Hello,
This is not a Samba question itself, but it's somewhat related to Samba.
I am planning to replace the two Windows 2000 Server servers in a client company
with two Samba PDCs with LDAP backend. Currently, those W2K servers hold the
Active Directory and the the antivirus management console. And this is the only
nuisance we are finding when moving from Windows Server to Samba PDC.
