Debian updates
Once again Debian has no updates. Is there any reason for this to happen? Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/attachments/20080430/c39ba1e4/attachment.htm

Coping WoW tree
I have just been told that I can copy the installed WoW tree from Win XP to Wine (same machine, dual boot) because WoW doesnt use the registry. Granted, that would save a lot of time, BUT, is it true? Thanks, Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... WOW won't start
Just installed WOW, Burning Crusade, patch. Won't go past the first startup screen. Looked at AppDB, found bug 8774. Sounds like that could be (or be related to) what I'm getting. Ran 'glxgears' and got the following: volunteer at bigkona:~$ glxgears Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

Wine, WOW, teamspeak, skype, etc.
Lots of key words. Just generally, how well does Wine handle voice chat? Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/attachments/20080312/1cc0255c/attachment.htm

XML issue
Debian Lenny, latest Wine. I just installed a program that my WOW guild is raving about. Had to install .NET 2 to get it to run. Only problem so far is that I can't open a saved profile. It saves in XML format. That part seems ok, but I can't open it again. The process hangs on the first of three steps, locks up, and I have to force quit the app. I can open and read the file with a web

Install ziped program
Debian Lenny, Wine 1.1.27 (1.1.28 won't install) Can Wine install a program that comes as a zip file? As in: extract, install, and make Wine aware of it? I'm only askiing because I can't do it and was wondering if I'm missing a tool. Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

I just checked the Wine repository and found 1.0 for Debian Etch! However, there is this notice: --*Etch users will need to upgrade to testing to avoid missing some libraries*--Which libraries? XP SP2
I know someone who has been using Wine to run a State campaign finance reporting program, works fine. But a new version is out and must be used starting end of March. If keeping winecfg to XP, the new version will require SP2. Does the program have any chance of working? In other words, what "version" of XP does Wine use? Wine 1.2-rc?, nVidia, and WoW 3.3.5 Problems
Forwarding to list. One of my concerns is that we don't direct users to scan the forum entries before they post. This is just one example of 'me too' messages in a series. And the maddening thing is that folks like Jim below, don't have the problem. Several 'fixes' have been posted to work around what originally appears to be brokenness in Wine, starting about 1.1.44,

Batch file
Just a clarification. A batch file (*.bat) is an executable. I will be installing a mod for WoW that needs to run a batch file after the normal install to complete the installation (if I'm reading it correctly). I am positive that running it with Wine should work just fine, but I wanted to ask first just in case there is an issue with batch files I haven't heard about. The mod is

WOW "fixes"
I've run across the following two articles on the wow wiki. The first link is the general page for Linux/Wine. The sound and voice chat is what I'm most interested in about the second link. Can anyone comment on how current and useful these tips are? It's nice to know that Blizzard knows about and actually seems to "care" about Linux users, but I really do NOT want to break

Backup binaries
I'm using Debian - Etch. Where does WINE keep it's binaries and libs so I can make a backup of my current working WINE prior to compiling -- just in case I mess something up? I know there's a number of files in "/usr/bin" that are prefixed with "wine*". Are there any that DO NOT have a "wine" prefix that I should know about? And files in

Agent 4.0 and wine
I have been running Agent3.3 uner Linux debian sarge, wine 0.0.20050310-1.2, fake windows partition. Absolutely no problems, even when tackling large groups like binaries or advocacy. But the upgrade to V4 did not go well. I went back to 3.3 and managed to reproduce under reduced conditions: * Created a new, vanilla user called gorby * Created a new fake windows setup with a vanilla
